Thanks to all for posting - very encouraging. I've beaten cancer three times, but am nowhere near being "fit" yet. However, in my mind's eye I will be doing the Camino slowly because I want to visit many sites, towns and cities along the way!
Awww... just realized. They probably wouldn't let me bring this in my carry-on, and I likely couldn't find it in Galicia. I guess I'll just have to make do ;)
It has changed so much! Used to be hearing the Christmas music and seeing the decorations, but now all that is out in November. Ugh. But if I'm not out into the "commercial" world, December for me is doing things with a bit more intention, and awareness and appreciation of all my blessings. I...
It is under the red part. I am well acquainted with it, as before we married people teased us about not forgetting the wine bottle opener. We were married at a camp, in winter, after a two-foot snowfall. We forgot the wine bottle opener. A few people pulled out their Swiss army knives, and we...
I had to share this... what Newfoundlanders do when their plane is late and they have to wait at Pearson International Airport in Toronto. It pretty much illustrates the attitude you find on the East Coast (not just Newfoundland)...
I was looking into doing this before I fell ill - another long trek that I have dreamed of for quite some time! The East Coast Trail is mostly remove and very undeveloped. The East Coast Trail Association has a very good web site http://www.eastcoasttrail.com/en/index.aspx . They organize group...
I hope to be able to walk the Camino Ingles next summer, and hopefully on to Finisterre and Muxia afterwards. I have been wondering what I would do with the scallop shell, hang it outside by the front door to welcome people, or inside where I will see it more often.
Sparrow, my husband...
I was thinking of that as an option. I hope to not have to wait until I'm 86 years old to do this, though! What an inspiration!
I remember my neighbour when I was a kid had had two hip replacements, and walked with two canes. She and her husband went to Lake Louise every year and she would hike...
I am surely getting ahead of myself, but I learned yesterday that I will likely be visiting Galicia for a month next year (end July-end August), and will be staying near Ferrol. If I can get myself walking with my walking sticks (I have to use a walker now), I just might be able to do the...
I have no practical experience, but someone at the gym was training for a Kilimanjaro ascent. Was using the treadmill on its steepest angle, walking uphill backwards.
I wonder how they would react if you took a picture... I would also encourage everyone to buddy up or at least try to stay at least in eyesight of other peregrinas (or peregrinos). I know sometimes you just want to be alone, but you would be less likely to experience this type of intrusion if...
I still hope to do the Camino - maybe even next year - if I can get to walking properly again. I literally dream of walking the Meseta at night, by moon and starlight. And the views in the mountains! And - like my sister-in-law says - checking out every blade of grass and flower, and taking...
