    The Camino will provide?

I think.. from the nature of the instances/issues/problems you listed.. the fact is… we all make mistakes and “forget things.” I’d be interested to know if.. you may feel these things do not apply to you. Who knows .. maybe they don’t. Now..if someone loses .. or forgets their camera/...

Has the dog “policy” on the Camino changed?

I’ve been in Le Puy en Valey less than 5 hours and have seen dozens of hikers with dogs.. I think it’s great but .. every book I read says it an “absolute NO” at any of the places to stay. Just curious???

Bike rental options on the Camino?

Thank you! I was hoping to walk the majority of the Camino from SJPD to Santiago de Compostela. It’s France, from Le Puy en Valey to SJPD I was hoping to cycle at least 1/2. Hopefully in Le Puy I can make some kind of connection. Thanks!!

Bike rental options on the Camino?

I’m leaving from Le Puy en Valey to SJPD and from there on to Santiago de Compostela. I want to walk more than I ride, but, from time to time I would like to ride 100-150 in a day.. maybe two. Is there a service that can return the bike back to where I picked it up??

    Bar etiquette

Interesting! I do this as a matter of habit living in Portugal for the last 5 years. It’s a detail I most likely would have missed in France. Thanks for the note!

One week and I start in Le Puy en Valey

Thanks! Other than a sleeping bag I’ve tried to avoid a tent and the other…weighty items. I’ll see what develops as I go. Thanks!!

One week and I start in Le Puy en Valey

Thank you! I am not looking for anything above a place to lay my head at night…The cathedral sounds perfect. I will try to find it tonight or .. something close to it!

One week and I start in Le Puy en Valey

Hello everyone! Well.. one week from today will begin my walk across France and Spain. I see a number of posts regarding a wave of walkers and room accommodation limitations. I am one who is approaching this with ZERO pre-made reservations except for my flight from Lisbon to Lyon next Monday...

How to choose a Camino Prep Fitness Program?

You’ve gotten some very good advice here. I can only offer a few specific areas/ideas. I’m starting the Camino in less than 2 weeks. Although I bicycle 200-300 miles a week I still have a few fitness issues to resolve. For muscular endurance.. I’ve found that planks have helped tremendously in...

    Cancelling Camino - Soliciting Advice

You might consider having your pack transported for you each day, assuming you were walking with your pack on your 20km. If not, and it was without a backpack, then.. yes… serious concern. Otherwise, the only thing I can think of would be getting up each day, as the sun rises… set a slower pace...

What exercises to do to strengthen lower back?

No. Cycling has been part of my life for almost 40 years and in no way a detriment to any physical aspect. The back issues were caused by a variety of injuries long before cycling became an integral part of my life. I’ve hiked several 3-5 day, 20km or more distances without issue. My concern...

What exercises to do to strengthen lower back?

Thanks! I was thinking to do more core strengthening work. I'm not an "avid" hiker....though it's not a huge effort to walk 6-10km at night after a 100-150km bike ride earlier in the day. I do worry about waking up ...6 or 7 days into the French Camino..and my back giving me more problems than...

What exercises to do to strengthen lower back?

I'm about a 6 weeks away from beginning the French Camino. Depending on how I feel when I get to St. Jean, I will either take a train back to Portugal, or continue on to Santiago. In the meantime, I have an question regarding what specific back-strengthening exercises any of you have engaged...

    Traveling from Texas

The best way.. the most direct..fly into Paris and then take a train to St. Jean.
