That's what I did, and it worked fine for me. I started from SJPP on April 24, so I experienced all kinds of weather, including windy, cold, and rainy days.
On my first Camino in 2003(Roncesvalles to Santiago) I had a chronic problem with blisters, but managed fine with the help of many visits to the farmacias along the way.

I vote for Keen as well, and I know they're expensive, but I got custom orthotics for this Camino. Haven't left yet, but they are making HUGE difference in my training walks.
