VdlP was my first Camino, which I finished mid June this year. I agree with Alan, the Amigos book isn't much help, but it is a good visual source. For the most I actually found the fletchas were excellent and tried to purposely only follow these during each walking day, but my other fall back...
Stripey, thanks and I am proud (at Finisterra at the moment enjoying the sunshine and the satisfaction). Good luck for September. FYI the best guide books for VdlP are the German Outlook series, so find a German buddy if you can. It is a fantastic walk - all 1000 plus kms! Buen Camino!
Struggling to understand how having a certificate with ones name, start place, Camino name, date, and the number of kms on it makes it into anything competitive, especially given that Rule 1 is you walk your own Camino, but do agree that if the distance is apparently so subjective, then maybe...
I proudly finished my first Camino from Seville to S-C yesterday, queued up at the office to get my Compostella and chose to pay an extra EUR 3, for the 'destination' certificate which states where you start and how many kilometres you walked. Somewhat agog, feeling denied, and contrary to the...
This is my first Camino and I chose the VdlP because I am totally intrigued with Andalusian and Southern Spanish history, as well as l like nice weather and spring flowers, and initially walking each day on flat land was preferable to the rain and hills I had read about on the C. F. On arriving...
I believe there are 2-3 of us starting from Seville in the next couple of days. Sounds like safety in numbers is the way to go, so will take this idea on board and, with the smart advice about hiding money in different parts of the kit, I am still looking forward to all the positives of the next...
Geoff, Angela, I am arriving tomorrow ( in Cordoba today). After reading the thread on recent robberies on the first leg of VdlP, I hope you both and I as well as anyone else we can muster, can do the first few days together. Sounds like safety in numbers is the best way to upset or put off...
This morning I am leaving Oz after 2 years, back home to Auckland for Easter then over to Sevilla to start my camino in early May. I too can't wait to live a different life for 6-7 weeks. Very excited. Fitness: OK, Spanish: debatable but have hands and Italian from years back. Buen camino todos.
Hey Paschilke, a few of us are starting walking from Seville on 7-8th May, so lets hope we might see you up the track. You will cover many more miles than us, so may see you early in your tour.
Buen camino David, I will be putting my best foot forward out of the door of Triana on 7th or 8th May. Can't wait. Like a true pilgrim of old, I am slowly getting all my bits and pieces in order, leaving my job and packing up my house etc. When people ask what i will be doing next, it is a joy...
My guess is that international flights ex USA connecting through Dublin to Spain might show the leg as overall cheaper than the inter-Europe ones. I 100% agree if there is an opportunity to have a couple of days in Dublin, nothing could be finer than to start the pilgrimage with a drop of black...
Jamilla's mum, although I am not yet in that age bracket, but I just want to say thanks to you and others for the investigation and valuable informative advice. Sometimes I despair at the queries on the forum (mainly on the C. Frances sites). I should probably not be so cynical, but sometimes a...
The work of a true artist. Fantastic photography because it talks to you. The writing was full of emotion as well. You are a professional, and I have sent the link to family who query what an earth I am about to set out on. Muchos gracias.
