Looking for a place halfway between Padron and Santiago

Another great place to stay after Padron is Camiño da Vieira. It's a beautiful home, great host, and it means that you only have a 13km walk to Santiago on your last day. Highly recommended :)

    Lodging in Hornillos de Camino?

If you haven't got a place yet, an alternative can also be Casa el molino, which is around 10km out of town. When I arrived to Hornillos last year, there were no beds in town, and no idea who recommended this place to me, which happened to be one of the locations where the famous "The Way" film...

A hard landing upon returning home

Hi April, I feel you, as many others on this thread. I just arrived back in Sydney 4 weeks ago. Although I finished my first camino (FranceS) around 12th May, I took 3 weeks to visit family and friends overseas. Since arriving back in Australia, I can hardly recognise myself. Who was that happy...

Wow, what are the chances! That's the exact same train ticket I bought. I guess we'll be on the same train then ::-) When and where are you starting your camino? I'm starting 5th April from Roncesvalles. See you along the way 😊

Trains from Santiago back to Madrid

Thank you everyone for your messages. That's exactly what I needed to hear. I'll get into booking the ticket early then. I would never consider flying when the train is available, love the feeling of flexibility and freedom the train gives you.

Trains from Santiago back to Madrid

Hey Caminantes, I was wondering if you could help me out with this query. As I am planning to return to Madrid from Santiago by train (early May), I wanted to check if it was easy enough to arrive to the station in Santiago and get on a train, or whether it is a busy route during that time of...

    Layers guidance

Thanks for taking the time and responding trecile. Yes, I felt I might have made a mistake when coming back home and noticing how heavy it was. I think I got carried away and the guy in the shop was a good sales man!!! Other than looking for a lighter option, any other thoughts on my questions?

    Layers guidance

Dear fellow caminantes, I'm starting my frist Camino Frances on April 5th from Roncesvalles. I've been overwhelmed by the amount of info on clothing, gear, etc. and given I'm not someone who enjoys the cold, I'd appreciate your guidance/advice if I'm on the right track here, I have just...

Hi everyone, It's been almost a week since my post. I've been spending hours every day: reading, pondering, and more reading! I just wanted to thank all of you for your amazing support. There is still a lot for me to read and decide, but for starters, I feel much more comfortable with my...

Thanks for your kind message. Could you explain the benefit of the hiking poles? I've never understood why they are needed.
