    Walking in rain

Im planning a November Frances Camino. I have an Altus rain coat that covers me and pack nicely but I’m wondering do I get a backpack cover and wear a hooded shell light jacket over heavier jacket. Both the cover and hooded shell I would always use and just put on hood when rain, eliminating...

    Backpack size

Thanks for the suggestion Peter. I like the last line “just go for it.” I’ll go back to REI and see if they will exchange mine for a 40L That seems like great advice. The lighter the better especially since I turn 68 on day one of Camino!!! My last CF was almost 10 years ago. Frank

    Backpack size

These are great suggestions. I plan on taking a sleeping bag but nothing else unusual except several bottles of medications. I’d like to bring a pair of very light weight gym shoes to walk around in. My other concern. Is the rain. It’s probably going to rain a lot but I’m not taking rain pants...

    From CDG to SJPP

Thank you for this great suggestion. Could you hello me find a way on the Forum to connect with the threads that might offer suggestions like yours. When I enter “CDG to montparnesse and Bayonne” in search it is indicated that there are no responses. I tried other variations with no success...

    From CDG to SJPP

I’m interested in getting from Paris to SJPP in one day. If I take a train from CDG airport to montparnesse, can I get the train to Bayonne at the same station? Once in Bayonne, I wound get a train to SJPP and stay the night and the next night before walking to Roncesvalles. Is this doable? I’m...

    Transportation from Madrid to SJPP

I was wondering if there is a direct way of getting to SSJP from Madrid. I’m planning a late October to November Camino on the CF and would like to get a round trip plane ticket to and from same city since it’s cheaper. In the past, I've flown from Chicago to Barcelona going and from Madrid...

    Hotels/private room in November

Thank you for this suggestion. Since I’m starting to walk on the 26th of October, I just need to decide if it’s worth the struggle of going the Napoleon route to Roncesvalles in one day. I’ve done it twice. Beautiful but difficult. Never been on the valcarlos route.

    Hotels/private room in November

Thank you joker for your response. I was just a little concerned about what’s available in a month that has many places closing. I can’t walk at any other time due to scheduling issues so November it is. I also discovered nothing open on the Napoleon route so I’m going through valcarlos where...

    Hotels/private room in November

As I’m starting to get some reservations in line for my November camino on CF, just wondering how difficult it is to find a private room after October 31. Would like to stay in both albergues and private rooms.

    From Paris to SJPD

This is interesting. I’ve never heard of traveling to SJPD from CDG airport. Has anyone tried this option?

    From Paris to SJPD

Hi Rick. This is so helpful. I’m printing this out. This will make things very easy since I’m not at all familiar with Paris and getting to SJDP from there rather than Barcelona or madrid. Thanks so much. Frank

    From Paris to SJPD

Thank you for the suggestion. I’m terrible with jet lag so I’m going to stay overnight near montparnesse. I figure it’s a train ride to Bayonne then to Biarritz. Start walking on the 26th. The biggest challenge will be finding a room throughout November!
