Hi, I hope this is my last question and thanks for earlier advice:
Is it still the case that poles can't be carried on (in a postage tube etc) when leaving Adelaide to Barcelona via Dubai? AT their shortest, they don't want to fit inside my backpack.
I've seen the advice about taking them up...
Thank you, this is something I'll look into further .. I hope your journey goes well, and since I haven't been yet, this may sound ignorant,
but I've seen many people say here "It's YOUR journey" .. 'cheating' is not the right word. I can't reach the top shelf in the supermarket, so
I "cheat"...
OK, thanks people. I've now established that Telstra *think* my phone ought to be unlocked (we only have a wee shopfront here that was CROWDED)
and I have grey hair and was clutching a 3y-o phone. So I'll check it today with the Optus (&%$#!) SIM we normally use.
If it turns out to be useable...
Thank you for kind advice ... I'm more than grateful to all. I think I may start from Pamplona .. I'd be foolish to scupper myself for the sake of views that may well be obscured by cloud or snowed out.
Thanks to everyone. I'll see how I go unlocking from Telstra ... and as for the various ways to call others, I am more than grateful for advice,
but most of my near & dear are even less techno-savvy than I am. I envisage mostly texting or emailing them so they can read when awake.
I'll get a...
Hello, somewhat to my surprise I find it is nearly time to leave for Spain (will start walking in early April) and I have still not decided whether to start in St Jean PDP or not. IF I decide to, how far ahead ought I to book accomm, possibly for 2 nights?
Any recommendations?
My low level...
HI, I'm leaving in a week ...:-o ... and have decided to take an mobile phone from home, but need to check whether it's unlocked.
If it isn't, I think that means I can't use it in Spain, or can I get something from Telstra so I can use it in Spain? (Sorry, I am way out of my depth here.)...
Flying off at the end of March & after a couple of days in Barcelona I'm beginning the walk in early April. I hope to get to very close to Santiago de C by early May, as I'm then booked on a bus tour starting in Madrid. .. Phew!
HI, I attended this course a couple of years ago and got a LOT out of it. Janet is a hugely experienced Camino (and other Paths) walker and is honest and encouraging about her experiences, as well as bringing books, clothing, etc etc .. not just talk and photos. Well worth attending in my opinion.
Thank you for the helpful information. It's hard to express the comfort it gives a first-time-traveller to have this source of support.
I'll digest it over the weekend and sally forth to the travel agent on Mon.
Hello. I'm planning to go to Spain next April, probably start walking at St Jean in about 2nd week of April 2016. Timing planned to avoid the Easter crowds.
I'd be deeply grateful for a few recommendations re airline / route / stopover points flying from Adelaide, though Sydney is also a...
Hello, due to medical and other matters, I'm now once again starting to plan a camino .. this time in European autumn 2015. I'm 64, not in terribly good shape physically but that will be remedied by mid-2015.
Not quite sure of route yet .. possibly want to start at Le Puy and do a week or so...
