    Which are the “wilder” (least paved, most rural) Spanish routes?

    Yeah I’ve heard that too and was able to follow that plan mostly except for one day. But the 14-15 ks on certain days felt like 25-30 ks on the Frances. I am not a serious mountain hiker though so if you’re used to mountains it doesn’t apply.

    I’d say it’s certainly rare to find an albergue where a modest pilgrim would not feel comfortable showering. The vast majority looks something like this one in Najera.

    Totally relate. Hospitalero of more than 15 shifts. These few in the minority that you refer too are not the ones struggling and having a rough day but are miserable people taking it out on others sadly.
