I was cold on several days and this was in July. I had a merino wool shirt and rain coat. Going over the mountain on the first day you may be happy to have it.
I love trains, will take a train in Europe over anything, even if it takes longer. I’v never looked at the route from Santiago to Sarria but it can’t be long and a train is a bit easier on the body and for me the mind.
I went to TravelInsurance.com and compared plans. Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it, plus it doesnt add any weight to your back pack..
