It's today, my very favourite day

No not in a huff at all and not slamming doors. I just think it's not what it used to be. A few years ago the del Norte and Portuguese and VDLP were all not that busy at all but things changed now. Obviously there are other Camino's but give it a couple of years and they are going to be a...

That That would be nice. But I live now and it is a tourist attraction at its hight at the moment.

It's today, my very favourite day

Sorry to say but you are assuming wrong. I am not on the Camino at the moment but I was on the del Norte just a few weeks ago. At that time it was not busy but albergues were preparing for the season, which tells me it has become a tourist attraction and that's all it is now.

It's today, my very favourite day

Finally it's time to say adios to the Camino. It seriously has become a tourist attraction. It was good at the time but the magic has gone. Buen Camino everyone.

Just booked flight to Santander in two days.

I just made a last minute decision and booked a flight to Santander in two days time. My plan was to walk at home in Scotland but the weather forecast is typical scottish (pish) and I decided to change my plans. Hopefully I'll get a few rays of sunshine on the Camino del Norte after a long...

leaving for Camino del norte on Sunday June 28, few last minute questions...

Cabrales cheese and Cidre in Asturias. It's delicious with a crusty piece of bread. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. The cheese may not be to everyone's taste due to how strong it is, but I think its the best blue cheese I have ever tasted.

Pilgrim, were you injured on your 500 miles??

I was told that the normal recovery/healing time for a bone fracture is at least 6 weeks. However, it still takes more time to get back to normal after that due to no or very little activity. I guess everyone is different and unfortunately I walked for nearly 300km with that injury and for that...

Pilgrim, were you injured on your 500 miles??

Yes, unknown to me I broke a bone in my foot. I did not know at the time and only found out when I returned home. It turned out to be a stress fracture of a Metatarsal bone. I didn't even know you can break a bone by walking. I know the signs now and would not continue walking if it happend...

Edinburgh - SJPP - Who Knows

Have you got enough time to walk the Norte, Primitivo and to Fisterre in 34 days? It depends how many kilometres you can/want to walk each day. I am sure you already know the distances involved but it is important that you know what your body is capable to do day in day out. I consider myself...

Edinburgh - SJPP - Who Knows

Hi, FYI I live not far from Edinburgh and have walked a few Caminos including the Norte from Irun and the French from Logrono. Both Caminos are completely different in many ways. The Norte is far less frequented than the French at this time of the year although you will not be alone and still...

Thinking of Cycling? It is your Attitude that counts!

As previously mentioned in this thread, I cycled the Camino (Mozarabe and Via de la Plata) without a bell and finished three days ago. I had no issues apart from one occasion on a not so busy country road when a group of about 7 foot pilgrims (obviously taking advantage of the muchila service)...

    Pamplona Burger King health warning

Obviously there are several sides to this story. Firstly BK in Spain? I think there are much better options to keep yourself fed and watered. However, that is just my personal opinion, and I would not judge anyone on what they prefer. Don't we all at times crave certain things we know? I think...

Three UK - Free roaming in France/Spain

I am in Spain right now taking advantage of the "Feel At Home" option and actually using my phone to write this post. In the last two weeks it worked really well for me and I had no issues so far. I only received a few text messages from Three informing me to make sure that I use the "Feel At...
