My husband Erik (kelownaguy) and I are both retired teachers (I retire in March 2016), and are planning our first Camino. We love to travel, we are both active, and in the past have participated in triathlons and running races, and we love walking/hiking. In 2014, we walked part of the Cotswold Way during a trip to the UK and that gave us a tiny taste of doing an extended walk.
We are planning to leave home in early April 2016, about a week after I retire, and will spend 2 weeks in southern France, before heading to St Jean Pied de Port to begin our Camino around April 25. We are giving ourselves 40 days to walk the Camino and then plan to spend a month in Tuscany relaxing before heading home in early July. What a way to begin retirement!
We are both looking forward to seeing new sights, meeting new people, testing our physical and mental fortitude, and enjoying a simplified life.
