    We've used an inexpensive duffle bag from IKEA and is under $10 USD. It folds completely flat when not needed and holds as much as a backpack. I know it can be transported as we used different services last year.

    Parador de Santiago

    I am also booked at Rua Villar. The staff is amazing and very responsive. I asked about gluten free options at the breakfast and they promise to provide. No issue. I've not stayed at the Parador but we've stayed at Hotel Alda San Bieito twice and it was amazing - right in the middle of everything.

    Affordable transport options from Porto Airport to historic old town

    I agree. We found the metro to be very user-friendly from the airport to historic area. You can buy a day pass and we used that to hop on and off a few times during that first day to do some sightseeing.
