We've used an inexpensive duffle bag from IKEA and is under $10 USD. It folds completely flat when not needed and holds as much as a backpack. I know it can be transported as we used different services last year.

I agree. We found the metro to be very user-friendly from the airport to historic area. You can buy a day pass and we used that to hop on and off a few times during that first day to do some sightseeing.
