I was discussing this thread when out walking with my wife yesterday. She had a great idea re “luxury’s”. I am in addition to a marked increase in physical preparation for a April:May 2023 Camino starting a diet. She suggested that for each stone, 14lbs (6,35 kg), I loose I award myself 1 or...
I’m very disappointed at the tone of your response to my legitimate post. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but to belittle a fellow poster on an open forum verges on bullying and is, in my opinion, unacceptable. I would expect that a Moderator would treat all posters with dignity & respect.
Why aren’t local authorities organising cleaning crews & anti-fouling initiatives? The money generated by pilgrims is mot insignificant. Why should the people who live/work on the routes endure the filth of inconsiderate visitors & ineffective local councils?
I think it is “concerning” that padlocks are used, this is in contravention of Fire Regs. How do you know how long it took to be served but jump to judgement. Walk your own Camino was the motto I thought.
As a future pilgrim in 2023, I for one will be disappointed if the potential of communal meals is stymied because of kitchen closures. Having to stick to a tight budget meant I also would use kitchens, where available, daily. I’m not a cheapskate but a working class pilgrim. Disappointed to hear...
I bought a OMM strap pouch into which I fitted a collapsible water bottle with extended mouthpiece. It started fine but as it emptied it collapsed and was dumped in pack. I would like an aquaclip but as far as I know they are not available in uk. Have you tried a chest pod?
Thanks for the advice, I will re-assess my thoughts on this matter. I believed, incorrectly it appears, that I could boost my ability on the Camino by this technique which is similar to the weight vests/weight straps used. Thanks I appreciate your feedback. Buen Camino Steve
Amazing and concise review of the pack thank you. I’m a bit of a pocket guy (why aren’t you?) and considered the Mountainsmith Zerk 40 Phantom as I already own the Scream 55 for wild camping & through hikes, I considered 40l is to big. Thanks again Buen Camino Steve
I was thinking re the roman gladius where the wooden training swords were twice as heavy so when weirding in battle it was easier. My local area is quite flat so I could adjust down in Peak District.
Hi Dave great post, hope your health is improved. I, as a newbie considered footwear as the essential first buy. I’m really happy with my Altra lone peaks and am considering trekking sandals as an addition for hiking and evening, any thoughts on brands? I also want to start carrying my pack...
Hi Chrissy don’t I know already. I was following a great discussion on trekking sandals for it to change into a Croc “fest”? I’m learning quickly. That said Ive clarified how yo get my poles to St Jean and travel insurance. Two items ticked off. Thanks Stay safe Steve
