Bypassing Sarria to get to Santiago
I too detoured to Samos...a beautiful walk with lots of accommodation but I stayed in the monastery. It was so worth it, one of the oldest monasterys, had a guided tour by a monk and went to a beautiful mass, right out of the middle ages. I have walked Le Puy to Pamplona in August 2012 when I was 62. I started out with Rupps guide but found it too wordy and the maps werent detailed enough. I walked the Le Puy route last August to Sept solo....It was hot, above 30 degrees everyday but i started early and usually finished walking by 2.
