Alert Young female pilgrims, be cautious of an American pilgrim

If you are no longer hitchhiking around, that may be the reason that you are more safe today -- and not because you are older. Older hitchhikers may be less safe than younger ones, because older people are more easily overpowered than are young people.

Alert Young female pilgrims, be cautious of an American pilgrim

I don't think the OP thought about it (and I do appreciate the warning in the post). It is usually an unconscious bias to exclude older woman. As women age, they disappear--at least in the US--and not including them as a possible target of harassment along with young women is a perfect example...

Alert Young female pilgrims, be cautious of an American pilgrim

""Young" female pilgrims beware"... why only young women? Do you believe this man would not harass a middle-aged or older woman? As a not-so-very young woman, I can vouch that it isn't only young women who are ever harassed.

    Vegetarian food in albergues

In Hospital de Órbigo, León there is Albergue Verde which is all vegetarian and they have yoga before dinner. I have not been there, but hope to do so in the future when I do the Camino. I am a vegan. hostelverde@gmail.com

Long stretch from Carrión to Calzadilla de la Cueza

There is no mess which is the point of them. It's basically peeing into a fitted funnel -- you can't miss. That said, if you are wearing pants, you will have to at least pull them down far enough to be able to use the device, so unless you are wearing a dress, you won't be incognito.

    travel light

Ha ha. I live in Manhattan, NYC and wear toe socks with my Oofos flip flops, usually in October when the weather starts to get cold but isn't yet freezing. I love flip flops. Btw, I bought both the Injinji and the Wright socks. I like both.

    Surprising myself!

What are some of the items including brands and weights of things you bring?

What a great list. I am going to order the socks that are on your list. I am a vegan and so can't wear the merino wool socks that are so popular. Do you wear the Injinji socks underneath the Wright socks?

Solo walkers - what kinds of food do you buy at grocery stores?

Are you really a vegan at home or do you eat a plant-based diet at home? Vegans do not use animal products in addition to not eating animals or animal products -- no leather, wool or silk.
