OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Simple questions about masks
As a footnote: I believe FFP2/N95/KN95 masks are only fully effective if you are female or freshly shaved where the mask touches you. The slightest bit of stubble significantly lessens the seal between mask & face. This is certainly the rule for industrial use of FFP2 masks.- Mr Magoo

According to all-wise google, the American CDC & British Met Office say you must not lie flat, and should adopt the 'lightning crouch' ( like you describe) and explain why. However, the U.S. National Weather Service, rather than say theres a 'safe crouch' emphasise that youre in great danger...- Mr Magoo

Yes, 'Step Voltage', because of legs spaced out. Which is what the lightning crouch, with feet held together, hands off ground is supposed to minimise, and why youre not supposed to lay down flat , according to the advice I got, anyway . I was given a copy of that 'Lofty' Wiseman SAS...- Mr Magoo

Yes, I read that. And I was suprised to see that a "lying flat on the ground " position was recommended on flat featureless terrain. I hung the pack using a cord round the haul loop, then lifted the poly bag over it & drew it tight with the poly bag drawcord. Guess you could knot the bag opening. I treated the polybag with permethrin, its safe for us but not cats or Canadians.( Or is that DEET I'm thinking about.)- Mr Magoo

Why Do Adventure Snobs Hate The Camino De Santiago?
To bring both outlooks together I would suggest the Norwegian "Pilegrimsleden" pligrimage route.
