Jim Santiago-the issue might not be just a simple Dr visit to pay out of pocket. What if one gets hit by a car, motorbike etc. things happens. Spains medical care is good but a week in the ICU at any hospital will be huge dollars. IMHO it is careless to go without accident/medical insurance. So...
I have mixed feelings about this post. It is our first Camino. We researched and read John’s book. We were lead to believe to pack light, do not pack for all the “what if” scenarios because you can’t carry all that. So we brought appropriate clothes for early spring and early summer weather. We...
Hello! We are currently walking the CF. We started in St. Jean on April 11 and are currently in Navarret. Weather has been beautiful. The fields are very lush from the rains they had around Easter. Some trees are out, some are not. Lots of wildflowers. Lots of poppies too. Each year will be a...
We too are from Canada eh?! We arrive Wednesday and start walking Thursday. Our packs have a Canadian flag on them so please say hi if our paths cross. Jennifer and Bill. Buen Camino
When does bus service start from Pamplona to SJPdP? We arrive in Pamplona April 9, and hoping we don’t have to taxi. As Easter is early this year, I’m hoping service might start early too.
Thank you to all who replied. Looks like we need to go shopping for sleeping bags and towels. I’m looking at the 20 x 40 hand towel size. Is that adequate.
Hello - my first Camino is the Frances in April of 2024. We are getting excited. We plan to overnight in a private room in most auberges when we can. My question is: Do we need to have a sleeping bag or are private rooms equipped with linens and towels? Im trying to keep my packing weight down...
From your experience, if it’s windy, isn’t a hands free umbrella with chin strap hard on your neck? I would think your neck could be easily wrenched in a gust.
Marsha- thank you for sharing your experience thus far. Please keep posting. My husband and I are walking our first Camino mid April. I’m hoping the crowds won’t be too bad, but it sounds busy right now. Any advice about what not to pack would be appreciated. happy trails
John - thank you for sharing your memories of your Camino Frances. We will do our first in April 2024. You have made me very excited to start what I think will be just the first of many Camino journeys.
Hi, I recently read the book by Graham B. Usher ( Bishop of Norwich) entitled "The Way Under Our Feet" A Spirituality of Walking. I would highly recommend it. Christian based, it speaks to how walking connects us to each other, to God, and most importantly to ourselves.
