You can have solitude on the CF. Be the last to leave an albergue (usually around 8am) and you’ll likely have the trail completely to yourself. Spend more time in churches than in bars, pack your lunch so you can picnic solo, and choose private...

I would NOT do the San Salvador in reverse. It is hard enough following any Camino WITH the arrows, even when you already know the route. But this one is quite challenging in parts, and getting lost/hurt on the more remote stretches of the trail...
The fact of something never having happened in the past does not preclude the possibility of that something occurring in the future. I don’t think Spain is the only country where naughty landowners erect fences across footpaths.
