8 years ago on my first Camino I got shin splint on my left leg. Luckily I had Rock Tape with me which I use for my Planticious Facisious. It worked for me.
Also for me, ignore the fast long daily distance walkers. I set my own pace and daily distance, it worked.
It depends on how you want to do your Camino, in relation to cost etc.
I am flying into Lisbon on the 30 April to start the Camino Portuguese the next day, flying home on the 6 June, I have a number of rest days and will stop off in Fatima for two days. Each days walking is a reasonable distance...
You may call me a bit strange here, I have walked 7 Caminos and will start my 8th on the 1st June, I always walk alone but never ignore other pilgrims I meet along the way. All my Pilgrim Walks are just that, so I concentrate on saying the rosary, prayers and visiting churches, and enjoying and...
I have the 2024 John Brierley and Gemma Brierley Guide which is completely up to date and showing the new shorter route along the board walk along the Tego, shortens the stage to Alverca by 7.8 km. Of course it also shows the original longer route. I will starting on the 1 May this year.

All I can say is it worked for me and still does, I am now training for the Portuguese Central from Lisbon to Santiago next May/June, and continue to use the Rock Tape. Best wishes, I hope it work for you.
I suffered with Plantar Fasciitis on my first Camino many years ago, after trying a lot of the above advice I found what worked for me on 6 subsequent Caminos. Rock Tape a premium kinesiology tape, it comes with a leaflet showing how to use the tape for all sorts of body problems. For PF, a...
Ivar, if you can get a poncho with sleeves, easier to wear and prevents blowing about in bad weather. I had with one with sleeves on my last 7 Caminos and would not be without it. I still have it but would consider a good standard replacement.
Thank you Madis,
I have briefly looked at your blog into and out of Fatima. I will read your full blog in detail a bit later, I think this will be very helpful for me.
This will be my 8th Camino and still going well at 78 years
.
Thank you Madis
I am planning to walk the Portuguese Way from Lisbon to Fatima, on to Porto and Santiago in May next year. I have prepared my itinerary with the help of John Brierly's guide and a person in Spain who has helped with previous Caminos
I would like to hear from anyone who has done this Camino...
I will be doing my 7th Camino at the end of the month, I have never used Albergues, I am always fully booked ahead and I always have a suitcase taken forward with essential medications, clothes and the like for my medical conditions. I always consider myself a pilgrim, for example last year I...
