    Terminal switch in Madrid

You did not mention if you had to negotiate customs. If so, I would say 2 hours is on the edge of making it. And beware, if your Pamplona flight is on a separate ticket, and you miss the flight, the airline may simply cancel your ticket and not even say thank you Buen Camino Bob

Are you 70+ and still walking Caminos?

Age is just a number. I walked my third Camino two years ago at 74. I’m planning another for 2026. My 74 yo buddy did the CF with me. 6 years ago we met five guys from South Korea. The oldest was 82 and man could they party Buen camino Bob

    Wild camping on Le Puy?

Two years ago we met a young lady who was camping on the GR65 Some nights she would just knock on a door and ask to sleep in their yard. It seemed to be working for her. I'm too old and that is too adventuresome for me. It is just different when you are in the High Sierra doing that. good...

Lucca to Rome - Should I?

This could be my next adventure. Unfortunately, my walking buddy of 73 years injured his knee last year skiing and can no longer walk the long distances. But he still wants to do the trip from Lucca to Rome. We have done three caminos, VF, VP, and a short 7 day walk from LePuy GR65. Are...

Comment by 'Robert Long' in media 'Burguete to Espinal'

Last year we started in Le Puy. The mass in the morning and the blessing is amazing. We walked for six days then taxi and trained it to SJPP. Then walked to Santiago definitely worth the experience. Food. Terrain. People made it GREAT

Seven days of walking in France prior to St. Jean de Pied Port

Oh My goodness no bag lunches. The food is out of this world. One night we sat down for dinner, and it is always a family style meal in a gite, at 7:00pm. We did not get up until 10:30. It was a 4 course French cuisine. Just outstanding. They provided us a good breakfast and asked if we...

Seven days of walking in France prior to St. Jean de Pied Port

in Sept 2022 my best friend, my oldest son and I began our Camino in LePuy, France on the GR65 Camino route. We walked for 7 days ending up in a small town in the middle of nowhere. It took us an entire day of taxi and trains to arrive in SJPP to begin the remainder of our Camino. This was...

    Breakfast Timing

I agree with Anthony. We walked part of the LePuy last Sept 2022. It is not the CF or CP. Walkers are not out before first light. Gites are not often open at 2 or 3:00 pm. Dinner was at 7 or 7:30 and we all sat together. Dinner did not start until everyone was seated. One of our most...

Seeking Information about Bed Bugs on the Camino de Santiago

I have walked twice on the CF, once from Porto, and part of LePuy and never had a problem. Maybe just lucky. I do check the beds BEFORE I drop my pack. I do this not only on the Camino but in Paris, Santiago south America, London, etc. and everywhere in the US as well. We met a fellow...

    Starting Le Puy on Sat

Don't miss the morning mass for pilgrims. I'll never forget it. Great sendoff. You will just love the route the GR65 takes you. Buen Camino

Mid 70 Male & Potential Issues

I walked part of my Camino last year in France, starting in Le Puy. I never ran into a bunkbed. The 7 Gites we stayed in were all 2 and 3 bed rooms, single beds. The bathroom was down the hall. At 75 getting up at night is a routine, but it in no way affected my walking the next day. Enjoy...

Seeking Camino spreadsheets for accommodations from Le Puy France!

On our last Camino in Sept 2022 we started in LePuy and walked for six glorious days. Just a wonderful time, beautiful country. These are the Gite in which we stayed. They were all great. We spoke no French and got along fine. The first night in Montbonnet no one spoke English. But Google...

    Bus route besides alsa?

Take a taxi. Last year my best friend and I walked our third Camino and we made it our Camino. More than once we started our day with a taxi ride. They seem to be numerous, timely, and not terribly expensive. The Alsa bus is only once per day. Buen Camino
