Hey! Just thinking financially and making sure I have enough Euros to get me through the first few days. I see that the Gite de la Porte Saint Jacques has meals. Are they included in the price or are they extra? I have it booked for my night in SJPdP.
Merci!.
Hi Everyone,
This second Camino seems to be a go, even though I am far from ready! (1st Camino 2016, 2nd attempted 2019, needed surgery then tried for 2020). I still don't have shoes! Lol
I arrive in Biarritz on July 3rd just after noon via Dublin. Trying to decide between Express Bourricot...
I did the CF in 2016. One of my favourite stops was a tiny place where there was a visiting priest from the UK. He said on his holidays he celebrates Mass at different spots on Camino. My next Camino I plan to make more of an effort to get to Mass more often, but last time my co pilgrims were...
In 2016 we walked through during San Fermin. We didn't want to hit the crowds, and we knew accommodations would be slim. We spent the night before in Zabaldika. It took us about 11 hours to walk to Uterga, but we always walked slowly and took long breaks. We walked after the big parties of the...
Ok.... I have walked once. Can I just say OP, you have given THE BEST piece of advice that I have ever seen? I love in Prince Edward Island. We have no mountains, some small hills, and I struggled with walking up hill and the elevation. I will be walking up the local parking garage to train for...
I feel the same way OP. My next Camino I hope to make it more religious/spiritual. One of my favourites was Zabaldika. I am not sure if it is open right now or not though. We were able to spend time in the church and leave prayer requests on sticky notes. We also got to ring a very old bell...
I did my Camino from July 3-Aug 3, 2016. I wore long pants/trousers and a long sleeve top. On the days it was going to be extra hot, we got up early because we knew we walked farther in the morning. We did get up and start walking by 5:30 or 6. We also checked where there were to be long...
Things are different now, due to Covid. But in 2016, there was English Mass in one of the side Chapels in the Cathedral. I loved going to Mass in the main Cathedral in Spanish, but also the small Mass in the side Chapel, where I understood the readings, Gospel and homily a little better, was...
I saw a tick once. In Zabaldika, a young woman came up to my Camino friend who was a doctor, and asked her to remove the tick. She pulled it out with tweezers and said that you should never twist it out. All the conflicting information is confusing!
We wanted to start slow, and it was during San Fermin (the start was right when we were scheduled to arrive in Pamplona) so we did Orisson, Roncesvalles, Zubiri, Zabaldika, Uterga. Some of our friends didn't get a bed in Uterga so they took a taxi to Puenta la Reina. We never saw them again...
