Buen Camino, Maggie!
I am also in my thirties, swim, ski, exercise regularly, and have the benefit of living at high altitude. However, I have always been overweight. I did not train with my pack at long distances for either of my Caminos. On both walks I took it slow at first (7 to 12 km a...
Can you take both? I walked the French and the Portuguese route in Chaco sandals and also had Salomon trainers. I wore the sandals for the majority of the trip but began alternating shoes in the middle of my walk. It was a great way to prevent from getting blisters!
" Where is the spirit of the Camino? If I bump into you on the walk and you need help is it OK to walk by letting you know that I already helped someone and look for them?"

This never made since to my...
Hello,

I didn't take books on my first Camino and was glad. I focused on writing in a journal (which I don't do at home). I would not have had enough time at night to do both.
I just finished walking a few days ago and did not bring books this time either. I wish I had. I had more time on the...
Snoring, farting, and plastic bag rustling is all a part of the experience. We all create some noise that might bother others. I'm sorry that you were ridiculed.
