LIVE from the Camino Many available beds in Villafranca
I left Astorga four days ago and was in Villafranca last night. Stayed in the very first Albergue to the left just before the Castle. Friendly staff and many beds not taken last night. Tomorrow, I start the steep climb to El Cereibro. Buen Camino.- TrekkerProf

Hi Toreld. I use Lorpen merino wool socks over women's ankle-high nylons. I also apply anti-perspirant at night and Vaseline in the morning. Buen Camino.- TrekkerProf

Boots in May
Hi Alison. Yes. I am starting in Astorga on May 23. I will be wearing my well-worn (Camino de Inca and Adirondacks) mid-cut Timberland Chokurua for the rainy days and the Teva Original for sunny days. Both are relatively lightweight. I've got my pack (Patagonia Sweetpack) maxed out at 15 lbs...- TrekkerProf
