Maybe a little late with my planning for le Puy...

From my experience, I'll try to answer what I can. "I'm guessing nearest airport for le Puy is Lyon? When landed in France, is the train or bus the better option to Le Puy?" -I believe so on Lyon, thats where I landed. The train is super easy, I think I had to switch lines once between Lyon...

    Observations from my second Camino

Hello all! Just a little follow up to my post a few months back on whether it was too soon to second Camino a year after the first. The answer was a resounding no! I got a cheap flight and found myself with no reason not to go to France and try the Via Podiensis. As most people probably are...

    Walking with headphones?

Not to disagree with you, because I found some of the most beautiful moments with just me, the horizon and the birds. But I wanted to add that I was surprised by finding God in the community of others. I had expected a solo journey, just me and God on an open road. That's how I normally...

    Le Puy April-May Sleeping bag?

Hello all! I apologize if this has been asked and answered, I struggle finding posts on my phone. I think I've read that most gites, etc, have bedding on le puy. Is it necessary to carry a sleeping bag? Planning to do the Cele variant, as well. Thank you!

Rethinking my CF-ish route after Burgos (and I start in 7 days!)

Just my opinion, but I loved the sections after Roncevalles with the frosty mornings over the fields, walking along the creekside. It sort of sets the tone for the walk, you are surrounded by your fellow pilgrims and have the chance to make those first encounters who you will meet again and...

Rethinking my CF-ish route after Burgos (and I start in 7 days!)

Skipping SJPDP to Panplona is skipping over some of the most beautiful countryside, the best food, and the community spirit of starting out as a group. The section coming into Burgos would be a much better stretch to bus over. The messeta that time of year is lovely! It's not a slog in spring :)

Is it necessary to book a place to sleep every day on the CF?

I found it more relaxing for me to book a day in advance or even same day, just so I knew I could take my time getting there and they knew I was coming. The places weren't always full, so it wasn't necessarily necessary. But sometimes I'd end up running into tour groups who had booked out whole...

    Too soon to second Camino?

I'm in my 40s and used the bag transport service last time after a week of struggling to carry my pack. Highly recommend it! ...i did no training.
