Is 5 days in Finisterre a bad idea?
Take the 5 days in Finisterre ! i spent 5 days last summer recovering from the Camino and it was awesome ! Would recommend the beach on the west side - Praia de Mar de Fora.- waynefraser

Hire car caution
Wanted to add: That my 2023 Camino Frances, after a last minute flight cancellation, i drove from Madrid to San Sebastian, taxi to Hendaye, train to Biarritz. and a shuttle to SJPdP.... was an adventure but managed to make it in time for dinner in SJPDP Albergue :D- waynefraser

I've rented cars in Madrid, Santiago, Ponferrada and Burgos and always been a great experience. Yes, took lots of pictures before and after the rental but never needed them.- waynefraser

Multipurpose shoes for shower and town?
I am thinking same : to bring sandals that can do dual duty hiking/shower. Tried Keen Newport and Teva Omnium. Both great choices but didn't fit comfortably. I found Hoka One One Hopara and they are super comfortable. I leave for SJDdP soon with these Hoka and a pair of Saucony Peregrine 11...- waynefraser
