Thanks all the answers in this forum. Appreciate it.

I have a suitcase, pretty much empty (as I used the suitcase to check-in our backpacks and Trekking Poles in the flight.)

We don't want to care the suitcase along the Camino. So there is one option to store it into some lockers in Madrid, which seems convenient.

Another option we are looking for is to mail the suitcase to Santiago de Compostela via post office? Not sure how much it will cost, and how long it will take to move it from Madrid to Santigago de Compostela. We will start from Sarria, so hopefully it will arrive within 5 days.

Thanks.

Your options might be:

1. Store in Madrid. Haven't tried that. Have you found some lockers?

2. Mail to Santiago, using Post Office (Correos). I have used this. Just check how long it takes. And then you have to carry it back to Madrid.

3. Use one of the luggage transport services to send from Sarria to Santiago. But you would need an address in Santiago. And you still have to carry it back to Madrid.

If it was me I'd try option 1. But others may have better advice.

When I mailed a suitcase from Irun to Casa Ivar in 2018 it took about two days for it to arrive there.

Here's the information for shipping to Casa Ivar:

And here's the information for shipping via the post office. Note, that the prices that they quote are for shipping plus storage in Santiago at a reduced pilgrim rate. If you ship to Ivar you can't use this special rate.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Another option is if you will stay in Madrid on your return to request storage at your return hotel. Ours did charge us for this service, but sounds like you will pay for some kind if shipping and storage anyway.

There are storage options in Madrid. Most I have seen were near the Atocha station. I don't know about Chamartín station or if you are traveling by train to Sarria. Chamartín is undergoing renovation so there is no telling what the situation is there unless you can scout it out personally. You should probably reserve storage in advance depending on the bag and size.

Stay at the right hotel & they will store it for nothing.
