Sometimes I just despair...

I suppose different people will have taken different things from this article.

Outback?!?!?! What outback?!?!?! The cafe's bars, restaurants, lodgings that are rarely spaced out more than 5-10km are not really mentioned. Other risks: "There are more risks that comes with the trip. The weather is unpredictable. And not many, but some, have lost their life on El Camino de Santiago due to weather."

This along with some other rubbish makes it sound like walking the Camino is on par with crossing Antarctica/Sahara unsupported, and as most people that have completed the Camino knows, that is far from reality.

No wonder people are scared of traveling abroad if this is the tripe that they've heard beforehand.

I do hope they have a lovely Camino, though Maybe they even get to see some signs of "civilization" between the stretches of "wilderness"

I do hope that, on return, she writes up an article for the Aquinian, with a more useful and reflective account. The article-writer, like more than one young journalist, might have been seeking drama in the piece. I've run into a number of mother-daughter teams on the Camino and they have told me how much they treasured the experience, often for the first time encountering each other as friends.
