Just to say that it is nice being back on the Via de la Plata. We´re taking short stages -- up to 22 ks and doing well for the moment. We´re no longer the walkers we were in 2005 when we walked from Le Puy to Santiago, but we can´t complain, even though our bodies and bones do.
Life is good and...
A little over a year after we had to stop the VDLP in Alcuescar because of a fall I had, which turned out to be bad.
We are flying this evening to Madrid. Will pick up a train to Salamanca, two nights there, then a bus to Alcuescar. We'll start walking from Alcuescar next Saturday morning (si...
This is the blessing I heard many times. The first time in Le Puy, then Conques, then other places:
All-powerful God,
you always show mercy toward those who you love
and you are never far away for those who seek you.
Be with your servants on this pilgrimage
and guide their...
Even though I am getting ready to start our 7th Camino (VDLP), I still find the 10% rule useful as a guideline. It helps me think through what I must take and what I can leave behind. This time, I will not take pills like Sportenine -- assumedly to keep me going when I am tired... Funny how much...
66, 1m67, 3.5/4 km per hour.
I'll see during this next VDLP how I'm faring. It will be one day at a time. Each day finished, a resounding success. Let us see how many days I can string together this time. Last year I had to stop suddenly. This year, I intend to use caution, common sense etc etc...
You can count on pilgrims' prayers for your daughter and your whole family. We'll walk with you in mind, praying for a complete recovery for your daughter and a Camino of thanks for you next year. Maybe your daughter will walk it with you as well. (My first Camino was to say thank you for my own...
Hi, hi, Vicrev,
My husband is going to turn 70, I've just turned 66. It's our 7th Camino -- 2nd time on the Via de la Plata. Last year I had to stop due to a knee injury. We'll be starting again in a 12 days! Very exciting...
You're going to have the time of your life :-) The Camino will take...
You can count on my prayers for you and your Dad. Your time on the Camino means that the Camino is with you now and will remain with you. When you return with your Dad's ashes, it will mean a lot to you -- and to him.
In the meantime, take good care of yourself. Losing a parent is tough...
We stayed at the Hotel Simon as well and enjoyed it. They have a special price for pilgrims as well as the creancial.
Staying at the other place would enable you to meet pilgrims just starting the VDLP like you and that could be nice too.
Buen Camino!
I'm working on it. Or rather, it's working on me... Good for the soul :-)
How did your time in Grañon turn out? Was it as great (and exhausting) as you thought and I hoped for you?
