I wear Lowa Renegades and am on my 3rd pair. Also Ininji socks and bag balm on my feet. Never take a blister anymore ... great boots protect your ankles from twisting and there is a LOT of rock in Spain as you know.
I recommend merino wool layers ... add or subtract to suit weather. They wick...
I left Lisbon last year on April 30th and walked to Fatima then Tomar then Porto and Santiago ... arriving on May 30th. There were some very cold nights between Lisbon and Fatima... but Porto going north was warm. It was a wonderful pilgrimage and very much different from the Camino Frances...
Gary ... I flew from Vancouver Toronto Paris and on to SJ ... 2014 fall was absolutely beautiful.
I look forward to hearing more about your trip ... you will not be disappointed!!

[UOTE="zrexer, post: 566469, member: 56069"]Don't have a picture of it, but the albergue at San Bol, which is just past Hornillos Del Camino is pretty tiny and austere. Picture attached is where you merge off the main trail to get to it. It is literally by itself in the middle of a field.
I plan to walk the CF again in September 2018 .... it has been calling me for three years since I first walked the CF in 2014 ... it's part of my daily life ... thoughts.
Sept 14th 2014 I started from Vancouver Island ... sea plane to Vancover... then Toronto .. to Paris ... another flight ...train ...bus .. to SJPDP. Left SJPDP Sept 14 Napoleon route ... sunshine ... oh so beautiful. Arrived Santiago October 26. Frost mornings ... short days. It was life...
Keep an eye on your boot weight too.

Go alone, train well, carry your pack, be a pilgrim even if only for a week. You will meet many people and never be alone, unless you chose to. You will be glad you did.
I walked in Sept and October 2014 from sjpdp to Santiago. I was in good shape and 66.
I had you same worry and booked Orisson not just to break day one but for the comraderi of a group dinner. An experience I will never forget. The close friends I celebrated with in Santiago and spent many...
The last week on Camino I used bag balm ... you can buy on line or at farm stores too (used on cow teets) ...this is much better than Vaseline. Put a lot on in morning then sock and shoe ... fantastic... your feet will love you !!
Next Camino I will use it everyday!
I walked sjpp to Santiago 2014 Sept Oct... and have similar feet and always in shoe helll as one foot larger since walking. My Lowa boots died in Burgos with nasty blisters and more and I wore out my Tevas in days ...bought Salomon walkers half size bigger in wide width and finished in them...
My experience fall 2014 was to carry 4 days cash needs in euros. If you don't then you risk fussing over where is the next machine every few days. I did have to borrow 20 euros a couple times from a new friend … not a great idea but they were gracious. Also note that many machines don't have...
