Thanks so much for your entertaining reports on the Invierno. With the time difference Galicia - California I can read them first thing in the morning, if I can wait that long.
Hola Simperegrina, I am very interested to hear how your Invierno goes, I will start it Sunday 28 April.
It will be great to follow you along your Camino.
Buen Camino!
I agree with Alexwalker.
In April I plan to walk the Invierno from Ponferrada, so I’m going directly there from Madrid as soon as possible. I try to schedule my arrival in Spain for as early in the morning as I can, to give me time to get to my starting point. I’ll power through the jet lag...
I got my first sello at the café where I stopped for coffee in Valença . As others have said, nearly every café, bar, albergue, hotel, city hall, church, tourist office or any place that interacts with peregrinos will have a stamp, just ask. Get two everyday from Valença/Tui onward, if you are...
Why not get a stamp in Valenca and consider that you have started your Camino there? I took the train from Porto to Valenca in 2022. I stopped for a coffee not far from the station and got my first sello there. I highly recommend the Variant Espiritual!
I volunteered at Nájera, after walking the Portuguese from Lisbon, in November 2021. It was such a valuable experience serving the pilgrims, sharing Camino stories and doing what I could to help them on their Camino.
This year I will be serving at San Nicolas del Flüe albergue in Ponferrada...
I'm planning to walk the Invierno from Ponferrada starting 30 April. After 2 nights in Santiago I'll walk the couple days from Astorga to Ponferrada where I will serve as hopitalero at the albergue de Peregrinos San Nicolás de Flue till the end of May.
I am a walker, I've walked several Caminos. When I go into the nearby National Park to spend time on the trails or the hills I'm a hiker. I've had this discussion with myself many times on Camino.

2. My every question had been discussed and answered from many different experiences.
3. 8+ years
4. 5-7 days per week
5. To share my experiences and learn about my next camino.
So many great recommendations. I just added “Candyfloss Guitar” as an audio book. I usually have several books to listen to while walking, but rarely finish them on a Camino, there are just too many other pilgrims to get to know.
I have taken the train from Santiago to Madrid, then stayed is a small hotel 2 metro stops from the airport. I didn't have to rush or worry about getting to the airport on time the next morning.
