I got a Muji soap dish to take for my bar:

In the end, I found it too small, so I went to Whole Foods and got one of their small clam shell clear plastic boxes with the lid attached you use to get spices or nuts. It is super...
Kanga, I so AGREE. An Altus in breathable fabric would be the perfect ticket! If I knew how to sew, we could start a gofundme company to make these for pilgrims.
But listening to all the unbrellenthusiasts, it makes you wonder if an Altus is not always the best choice... :)
It is great having...
I took these Uniqlo briefs on my last camino and loved them.

They are much lighter than Exofficio shorts and not so long as to bind on your thigh like compression shorts do.
I...
Cher, you may be referring to posts about professional laundry bags that you can use to protect your pack.
Poll: Which backpacks are most popular on the Caminos?
I actually still have several brand new ones of various colors and will send you one if you PM me. They are not all bright colors...
I took a Moleskine cahier journal.
A 3 pack of these is fairly cheap, and I found them great for journaling on the Camino. They come with graph, ruled, or plain paper and a small sleeve inside for small tickets and other papers.

Article from South Africa that says snake syringes don't work.
Just a FYI.

I agree with all the comments and would suggest all the removals Annie made. The Camino is not an Appalachian Trail thru hike. You are not camping, so water filters, matches, emergency blankets and utensils are not needed (unless you plan to cook each night and don't like using the common...
I agree with everyone that focuses on the fit.
If the bigger pack fits better (more comfortably with all your gear) get it. I took my entire planned gear (sleeping bag, clothes, water, etc.) to the store with me and tried on the packs. That way you will know what works best for your "stuff"...
Here is a vote for synthetic. I like the ability to throw it into a washer and that it can get wet and still stay warm. For the Caminos we have done in June, we only need a very LIGHT bag. Down would almost be too hot to me. But if you are going anytime other than June-August, a warmer bag would...
DLD:
We went last year in June and never had an issue with not finding a bed to sleep in. You will be early for most of the crowds and there have been more private albergues opening each year, so there is much less of a risk. I would leave home the thermarest, bivy, footprint and maybe take a...
I really wish Altus would make one of these in a breathable fabric. It is near impossible not to get damp a little from sweat in these, even with the vents. I found I would remove my arms from the sleeves and walk with them on the body of the jacket because they would start to get so clammy...
Tiger:
You are correct that the goretex should have protected you from a leak. Given the way you describe the leak at the toe, is it possible that your pronation has caused a hole to rub in the goretex on you toe (inside the shoe) that you can't see outside? A waterproof treatment may help some...
I used to believe this, but now, at least on the Camino, think it is better to buy it if you need it than to have it and not use it.
Best multi-use item in your pack: a debit card...endless possibilities.
On and Anna:
Bro code states that we can't share with women what is really in our packs...
So here I go again, the devil's advocate...
I highly respect Pano, Mark, and Wayfarer for their opinions.
My preference is the Altus jacket/poncho. First, I found that the Altus was lighter than carrying a rain jacket, pack cover, and rain pants. I also think that the Altus handles the blowing...
When I was last in O Cebreiro, I think I saw staffs for sale there in some of the shops (actually out front). Anyone that is currently walking or just finished have an idea?

One of the best and most versatile items on the Camino is a bandana. I found these items and thought you might enjoy:

Excerpts:
Cowboys originally wore bandanas because they served a bunch of different purposes. You can...

I am planning to take the Canon also. If it had a viewfinder, I think it would be perfect. Any secrets to maximizing the life on the batteries? I also just looked at the Olympus 4/3 with a pancake lens, but was not ready to spend that much money. I will be interested in hearing your...
