You seem happily Old-timey, too.
And this from someone who only uses fountain pens, lol!
For the record, I use an iPhone and keep hard copies of documents and numbers at home.
I use the big, boxy blue bags from IKEA that zip up the middle. My backpack and poles fit perfectly, the shape is spot on, and it is light enough to slip into my backpack and carry with me for the return trip.
I was sooooo tempted to get another pair of wonderful Merrell Moab boots but I resisted (I already have three pairs).
Instead, I got a down vest and a sunhat! Whoo whoo!!
I agree with most of the above.
See a doctor. Resign yourself to taking a few days rest in order to let your body restore itself.
While resting, drink water.
I wear mid-high boots during my Caminos, so the style of boot is not necessarily the problem. However, if it is the wrong size or...
A salesperson at REI advised me to always turn the socks inside out before washing in the machine. I always put them in a lingerie bag and I don't put them in the dryer. I wash them in the machine with regular laundry (warm water).
On the Camino, I also use Lagarto soap - I use it here at home...
I always carried my passport in my waist belt - fanny pack - with my money and credencia. Yes, I took them into the shower with me. I never had a problem.
Don't take more things than you need.
Can someone put together a calendar of holidays in Spain for pilgrims to use as part of their planning?
I’ve never gotten stuck, but it seems that, once or twice, posters are caught trying to find beds only to discover that they are in the middle of a local or religious holiday.
If I had any...
Dave, how distressing to hear of your issue and uplifting to read your resilient attitude! We will all be sooooo joyful when you write of the start of your next camino. Stay on the forum, please, and keep us all posted of your recovery. Look how many well wishers you have, you lucky dog!!
💪🥾
Exactly.
That final stamp ends that journey.
I suppose the OP can start getting stamps in a new square for a new journey in the same credential, but it may make it confusing in the pilgrim office, especially if you get a new volunteer.
If the OP hasn’t gotten a Compostela yet for the original...
That sounds like alot of kilometers a day, especially on that route, and mostly without hiking poles.
I bet you’re going to need at least one rest day.
I agree with all the above advice. Don’t worry, the Camino isn’t going anywhere.
The first 10 days are for your body.
The second 10 days are for your mind.
The last 10 days are for your soul.
Welcome to this forum! You won’t find better advice anywhere.
Buen Camino.
Did you get a Compostela based on your original stamps? In other words, do you plan to use the credential as a continuation of a pilgrimage “started” or as a whole new Camino? I’m just not sure I understand.
I agree with idea that the problem points to the shoes. I had to go through several brands of shoes before I found one that really worked for the shape of my feet (I buy men's shoes, not women's). I always go for a size 1/2 size larger that my normal shoes, minimum.
Also, good socks are often...
Has anyone used the phone service "Holafly" during their Camino?
Apparently it is a phone plan which eliminates the high cost of roaming charges and international phone plans offered from many U.S. phone companies (I'm looking at you, Verizon).
It seems to be offered around the world at very...
