    A barber in Santiago.

Nature has given me a tonsure. I just need a short back and sides, the crumbs combed out of my beard, and I'll look as hip as any hipster in Galicia.

    A barber in Santiago.

I'm already pierced (won't say where) and I think the 14 tattooes I already have are more than enough.

    A barber in Santiago.

I'm starting to look a bit like an older candidate for the group, ZZ Top. Any barbers open in Santiago. I should be there next week.

How much should your donation be ?

A bunk in a private albergue costs about €12 now. A meal costs about the same. So, if I found accommodation that provided an evening meal and a bed I'd donate €30. The little extra would go to partly cover the cost of free-loaders. If people can afford to travel to a Camino it's the least they...

There's a sand dune on one of the stages of the Camino do faros.

It's quite a climb, one step upwards half a pace slipping back in the fine sand. Anyone know how high it is? When you come down from the dune you join a road and can see the lighthouse at Cabo Vilan in the distance.

    On this date in June...

11-6-'17 I was in Muxia celebrating my 70th birthday and the end of another Camino.

New peril on the Pisuerga River?

Don't be taking the opportunity to cool your feet in this river until this mystery is cleared up. Witnesses, including a police officer, have reported sightings of a crocodile .

Why has my post about a Spanish peregrina I met on the way to Muxia been taken down?

What, if anything, was wrong with it?

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Plans to start Camino in 2020 after Spain re-opens

She's the first pilgrim I've seen in more than 5 months. I asked if I could take her photograph and she agreed. I posted it on my FB page and it prompted a question from someone about the chances of a September Camino. Anybody any thoughts ? I don't know.

Hoping to do my first Camino in September

September a few years back there were days when the temperatures were close to 100 degrees Fahrenheit on the VdlP. You need to carry lots of water. I'd say there's more need for some Spanish on it than on the Frances. I've a feeling that we're not going to see much Camino walking this year. I...

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD A return to a more basic camino?

One albergue in Muxia has already closed. I fear a lot more will go the same way.

I'm still walking a bit of the Muxia Camino

I went in mid January to house/cat sit. The lady who owns the house had an accident, broke a bone in her foot, and I was happy to stay on until she recovered. Not stuck exactly.

I'm still walking a bit of the Muxia Camino

I will stay here to early June and then go back to Belfast to see how dusty and neglected my house is after 5 months away. No plans after that except to wait for the Caminos to open again.

I'm still walking a bit of the Muxia Camino

I'm staying in a house in Muxia which is about 2km from the Camino. I walk those 2km and then about 1km on the Camino for my daily exercise. I haven't seen another walker for weeks.

Fisterra and the mystique of death

If you had your ashes scattered on the trail going down into Roncesvalles tiny bits of you, well atoms, would be making towards Santiago on the boots of pilgrims for as long as there were pilgrims.
