Walking in October - does it differ much from May / June?

Did it from SJPDP 2023 in late April may and warm the whole way except for about 4 days. Did the primitivo April may 2024 and had snow and sleet by the end. I’m going the Frances again at the beginning of October so was pondering the same question. As people say , I think it might be cool by...

How Much Should You Budget Per Day?

I did the Frances last year and primitivo this year and budgeted 50€ per day. I only had 3 private rooms on the whole of the Frances and 2 on the primitivo. I only cooked once when I stayed in a monastery but ate reasonably sensibly and had coffees and snacks etc. both times it worked really...

LIVE from the Camino For those worried about beds...

Last year I spent the night on a bench in pamplona with 5 others who couldn't get accommodation anywhere between Zunbriri and Pamplona. Please nobody say “ but didn’t you …..”. Yes we did, before you ask.

Shirley Maclaine - The Camino - Swimming place

Same. I’ve read an awful lot of books about the Camino and hers seemed to me, so personal that it was dull. After the first couple of dreams zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The Way: how do you feel about THE movie?

If you watch it to the end you’ll see how he changes and the fact that they often take the piss out of themselves being American. Sort of the point.

    Rainy season on Camino frances

I did it last year starting end of April and all of May. I think I only had 4 days rain in all that time. Just pot luck really

Suggestions and info on the Ruta del Besaya

Ok I’m starting to believe you, thousands wouldn’t. I might give it a go. It’s what I originally thought to do. I may not start in Santander though I might start sort of a few miles up the road. Any suggestions as to where is a good place ? I’ve got two nights in an albergue after the ferry...

Suggestions and info on the Ruta del Besaya

Hehe seems I’ve misread you. I imagined a sort of 30 something blond surfer. Maybe you were ? I wasn’t quite a teenager in 69 but early seventies I was. I’ve got fibromyalgia and various other groans so walking does help but I think perhaps we should compare meds? 🤣

Suggestions and info on the Ruta del Besaya

I did walk on. At 4 in the morning. I’d come from much further down the line with 5 others. It’s a much longer story which I won’t bore you with but believe me we explored every single avenue and I’d already walked a very long way that day. I even asked the police to arrest us but they very...

Suggestions and info on the Ruta del Besaya

I’ll be going around the second week of April. I do know about albergues that one can’t book but I walked the Frances last year and spent the night sitting on a bench in Pamplona and am a bit reluctant to repeat.

Thanks, I did see that. Just wondered if anyone had any more recent information. The last post was 2020.

Suggestions and info on the Ruta del Besaya

Hiya, I'm interested in recent info on the Besaya camino. There is an old thread but nothing very new. Anyone done it or part of it recently? I'm arriving by ferry in Santander in April and was going to walk some of the Norte then drop down onto the Primitivo. I've been looking at hostels on the...

    Norte from Santander

    Thank you

My sleeping bag is too tight

Do you need one at all at that time of year? I gave my sleeping bag away in Pamplona to someone who needed it so did the whole of the rest of the Frances without one. I get cold easily but really was only a bit chilly once. I just put more clothes on to go to bed. That was April / May 2023. Just...

    Norte from Santander

Sounds good. Thank you. Will investigate

    Norte from Santander

Hi and thanks in advance for advice. I did the CF last year and this year am hoping to do the Norte from Santander ( catching the ferry from Plymouth) and then joining up with the primitivo. One question, I hear walking out of Santander is not brilliant, is there somewhere that I can start...
