    Death on the trail today

A good bit less than 10% success rate for CPR in all but a few very rare circumstances (such as lightning strikes). Always worth attempting, but so hard on the responders, especially when help is slow in arriving!

    34 or 38 L pack

I used a 34 L Osprey Mira to walk the Frances one year ago. It was a tight fit but I had everything I needed. I am walking it again this coming spring and I did consider going a little bigger, just to make packing a bit easier, but I think I would just end up carrying more, and I had everything...

Good news about the FindPenguins app!

I did the same for my first Camino. It was a great way for family and friends to follow my progress and for me to remember my stops.

Advice on clothing packing list in October (Camino Frances)

If the raincoat is light and could double as a windbreaker I would keep it along with the fleece and ditch the puffer, or else ditch the fleece. I love my merino long sleeves when I walked in late September-October even though we had a lot of hot days. Love my merino Tees too.

Small (4-5 kg which is about 10 pounds) dog -- should I bring her?

Along with all the other good points raised, if your dog Is scared, and loud, when out of your sight, how are you going to eat? I don’t think you’ll be able to bring your dog into bars and restaurants, or the shower. I think it would be kinder to you both if your dear pet stayed home.

A general "don't bring/don't pack" in your attitude kit

I think this writer is addressing a fairly specific group of men, not “all men.” Trying to make these comments about “all men” is a way to dismiss what is being said.

LIVE from the Camino Héctor Walks His Way-Week 2

Just a gentle reminder to all that, IF I am remembering correctly this pilgrim describes himself as having complex PTSD. One of the most challenging aspects of PTSD is the way it can hijack the nervous system and create more reactivity, more quickly, than would otherwise be expected. AND it then...

Is it possible to walk Camino more than once.

I know whatever you pick will be a rich experience. I would just say that “longing” is a strong and meaningful feeling and should maybe be given some extra weight. As some writers on this thread have pointed out the distinction between a Camino and a walk, just so I would say we “lean toward” a...

LIVE from the Camino Héctor Walks His Way-Week 2

Lovely pictures! Sorry to hear your sleep was so broken - my recall is roosters being more likely than church bells to be the culprit when I walked:-)

    After the camino

I wish I did! I have walked once, and rather than satisfying me it left me only wanting more. I am going back this coming spring and already it’s all I seem to think about. I tell everyone I know that since walking I am Camino-haunted.

    Becoming a Pilgrim

It was the part of the trip that stressed me out the most! You will be so happy when you step into SJPdP and need do nothing but walk!

    Merino-synthetic blend teeshirt suggestions,?

On my first Camino I had two long sleeve, lightweight tops, one 95% merino, the other, a Meriwool was 100% merino. The Meriwool, which admittedly was just a little heavier gauge held up perfectly. The other not so much. I will likely bring the meriwool on my next CF, this coming spring.

Death of an Indonesian pilgrim on the Camino Frances

An older pilgrim, I believe from Great Britain, died overnight in the albergue I was staying at, our second night from SJPDP.

    River walk into Burgos

Hello! I know I’ve seen references to this route somewhere but I can’t find much. I’d love to find it. Any help?

When will it cool down in Spain?

Hello! I am walking now and it is quite hot. That said, I also have a very light meeting will long sleeve too and it’s worked well, keeping the sun off and not too hot.

LIVE from the Camino The September Wave: Increase in Pilgrims and Availability of Beds

I got there yesterday, 21st, and it was the same, fill and turning many away. I was very grateful for my reservation. Walked into Zurito just after 1:00 and easily got a room at the municipal when it opened at 1:30. I don’t know if it was filled, but it may well.
