Culture: Admiring the efforts to revive old homesteads

@Stivandrer, you might be interested in a book I just found and am reading - Requiem for a Spanish Village by Barbara Norman, published 1972. I found a used vesion on bookfinder.com.

Walked the Camino over 12 times to Santiago never once went into Cathedral.

The first time I saw the Mezquita, I was returning home from living in the Sahal for 3 years, and found this juxtaposition (not sure this is the right word, but...) of religions fascinating.

Walked the Camino over 12 times to Santiago never once went into Cathedral.

FWIW, @MicMac, James A. Michener's book Iberia (1968) has incredible descriptions of the Cathedral, inside and out - architecturally, historically and artistically. I'm taking those 99 pages with me in a couple of weeks, for a more thorough appreciation when I arrive again...

Best Time of Year to Walk Madrid Camino

If going in the Spring, I would suggest checking the snow level on the mountains, check the temperatures for possibile snow melt that would fill the arroyos just after Trés Cantos... especially the Arroyo Tejada... Maybe the stepping stones have been repaired and are walkable...

Non-Camino walk with short, easy stages?

When I saw inn to inn, I thought of The Thames Path... That was a warm up for my 6th Camino... ;) PS Start at the source, not the mouth..

Thirty five days and I never knowingly encountered another diabetic

Just for future referance, ask at a farmacia where you can find what you need. They know the neighborhood, there is almost always an English speaker, they are familiar with YOUR health problem, this sort of help is free, and there is always one open or a sign on the window that indicates where...

    Recommendations for which route?

I would agree with all who have posted - the Inglés. I've walked it twice and, hopefully, again in about seven weeks. If you haven't picked up John & Gemma Brierley's guide - Camino Inglés - 2024. It includes the sector from A Coruña - a wonderful place to take a two day rest before heading...

Caminha - Valenca via taxi boat

Yes, it was Ecopista! Thanks!! ☺️ Even if they drop you on the side you don't want to be on, just walk across the bridge! Easy, Peasy! If you want to wait until early November, I'll get back to you about this...

Caminha - Valenca via taxi boat

Sooo, I don't quite understand what you want to do. Acccording to Brierley (2024 Camino Portugués) you can walk both sides of the Miño - Portugal and Spain as far as Vila Nova de Cerveira on the Portuguese side. There is a vehicle & pedestrian bridge - but there is no camino that continues...

    Toilet tissue littering Camino Portugués

Perhaps the Spanish and Portuguese Camino Associations and Tourist Offices and boards along the trails could help with this issue, by doing a bit more 'advertising' to their folks... not pointing a finger, just trying to solve a communal problem.

    Toiletries at San Martín Pinario?

Thank you for volunteering! Just curious, are you staying in a pilgrim room or one of the hotel rooms?

Packing for my 2nd Camino: What changed in my gear list

Just a suggestion - but one can purchase - small sizes, inexpensively - all the way along the caminos. Farmacias, supermercados, tiendas... help the local economy for very little money!

Spanish language on Caminos outside of Spain

Late to the party, but... Interesting topic!! On my first Camino, I was riding with an older taxi driver between Astorga and Rabanal, and we had communication problems - he didn’t know English, and Spanish was still a bit new to me. Since I speak French, I asked, in French, if he spoke that...

    Parkinson’s

Courage, @falconbrother ! I was recently diagnosed with a similar "affliction" and will be on my next camino later this Fall. Prayers for you and your family.
