The Sarria-Compostela section has many, many people and local companies offering different services to pilgrims. I have seen taxis crisscrossing the Camino, waiting pilgrims in strategic intersections, and so on.
Bars are in Spain a kind of social centers, and owners seem to know everything and...
SJPP is a lovely city, but you can walk from one end of the main street to the other in ten minutes. I actually spent two days there, bcs I was nervous about a tingle in my knee and it is a long way to Roncesvalles. I washed my clothes, went to Mass in Notre Dame du Bout du Pont, visited the...
I prefer personal interactions. Besides, I am aware that b.com charges the albergues a significant % for each reservation. Or. maybe, as commented above, it is just a generational thing.
I am satisfaced with b.com for my occasional hostals or private chambers in albergues, when I am on the mood to rest a day from collective dorms. It has worked fine. Obviously, I prefer to make my reservations by phone or e-mail, when available.
Some places have local or "alternative" systems...
Train to Irún.
Bus (La Estellesa) to Estella. But be aware that there are not many options; just one or two per day.
If you have many hours between the two legs of your travel, go instead to San Sebastián, which is a more interesting place for a short walk and wait for the bus to Estella.
Alternatively, if you are tired or there is bad weather, you may consider the intercity rail, Eusko tren that goes every half hour or so. It could be also useful if you want to make a short visit to San Sebastián or move along the coast.
They are in the same airport, but actually international and national flights are different sections. As I remember it, you arrive, go through migration and customs, leave to the lobby and look for the terminal of your domestic flight. Check your tickets, and look for the "T1, T2...." or similar...
It may be more practical a flight to Madrid, then train to Pamplona, and then Logroño to Madrid. As it happens in many countries, it is easier to come and go to the capital than to find "transversal" transportation.
Both Pamplona and Logroño are important cities, with many options.
As per a near...
There is not a bus service in Pamplona airport.
There is a kind of shared taxi, but it does not take you to the bus terminal, but to Paseo de Sarasate (not close to the bus terminal).
Considering your tight schedule (you need to add 10 or 15 minutes to your estimated arrival hour to leave the...
If I live CDG at around 8:20 hs, I would take the RER (train) to Saint Michel station, leave there, have a little stroll by the Seine, marvel again at the Gothic facade of Notre Dame, and have a café au lait in one restaurant with a nice view. Everything with just a few steps.
Then RER again...
I suggest you take it easy...enjoy our travel, don't make complicated and stressful plans.
For example,
* spend your evening in Paris -a wonderful city as you know, with many places associated with pilgrims. Next day, take the first train to SJPP, and enjoy this picturesque village, or just walk...
Hmm....supposing your flight arrive in time: it is 1,15 hs as minimum, from CDG to Montparnasse. Two options: train (RER) + metro (fast, but you have to navigate the complicated metro station), or Le Bus Direct (very comfortable and stress-free, but depends on the traffic).. Or taxi...
In my last Camino I had really awful weather, so I decided to walk from Ruitelan to Piedrafita by the paved road (as cyclist frequently do); it was easy, but not particularly remarkable. Then, from Piedrafita to O Cebreiro, following, also the paved road. Great landscapes, almost no traffic, but...
Remember that there is Piedrafita do Cebreiro (that's the village where the bus arrives) and O Cebreiro (in the Camino) proper. Adding to the confusion, sometimes "Cebreiro"(the name in Galego) is written as "Cebrero" (in Spanish). Just ask or look for for "Piedrafita".
There are taxis, but I...
Half or more of the passengers to SJPP are pilgrims. Employees at Bayonne ticket office are used to their oddities.
Trains are clearly announced on a digital panel, with the number of track. It is a little station, anyway. And SJPP is the end of the line.
If you buy your ticket at the station...
Le Bus Direct leaves every 20-30 minutes. There were (a couple of years ago) ticket vending machines, but due to complications with my card, I bought it with the driver.
There are three lines from CDG, with destinations to Eiffel Tower, Gare de Lyon - Montparnasse and Orly Airport.
It is more...
Are you refering to "Córdoba"? The sintaxis is not important in the forum, but it is in the reservation webpage.
Madrid to Córdoba and Sevilla is a major line, served even by high speed trains (AVE). And yes, trains run in "Semana santa", but a reservation woud be wise.
