MD was a very debilitating experience for me. When it hit, I would be out of commission for 12-36 hrs; doing nothing but throwing up and sleeping. I have not have an attack since Feb 2019 and intend to keep it this way. I believe camino was one of the route to cure for me. Between Feb to...
Hi, just want to make suggestion that rather than burning the Camino clothes n shoes, these items can be easily dropped at a Caritas box.
Go to Rua de San Roque and look for Bodeguilla de San Roque cafe. Across from it there a big red box where one can donate stuff. You may not want the...
Ourense is a nice town to spend a day also. The Roman thermal bath is great and there are several of them. The cathedral has a nice museum.
Just sharing my thought — If I were to walk this route again, honestly, I would take a local bus to Quitela from Ourense. I made a note...
I am not quite clear on when your dayghter would join: beginning (as many suggested Sevilla), middle (as you mentioned Salamanca) or perhaps the end? What about meeting you in Ourense? It is the about 100km to SdC and can be done in 4 days. She can have a Compostela if that means something to...
Hi Liz, we just got back from VdLP. We paid 4-6 euro for public Alburgue and 8-15 euro for private Alburgue. Download Wise Pilgrim apps. It shows the price of the Alburgue. Sometime when we arrive, the Alburgue was actually donativo. We used the apps as the indicator on how much is the fair...
Hi Vince, YES 6 weeks is doable. We are in Albeguria -140km to SdC on VdLP. Take a look at Youren2010 and Perigrina2000 - they did nice work in detailing their journey/stages. Also you may want to download Wise Pilgrim apps. It gives summary of whether a town/village / hamlet has...
@Robo - Greeting from Campobecerros - 183km to SdC on VdLP. We slept in 2 alburgues in C Frances. Now, we slept in 2 Parador (one night each) n the rest in alburgues. Fortunately, we often have a room to ourselves and other pilgrims in the other rooms— they are just not that many pilgrims...
I arrived at Roncesvalles after struggling through the Pryreness this May 2018 - my first Camino, Before we started, my gf n I had agreed that we would stay in hotels and not hostel. Rude awakening, all hostels were full and we had to stay at the Alburgue. Albeit the snoring, I had the best...
Thank you! By the time I finish, we will only walk about 550km as we took buses 3x in the beginning. I must say I kind of wished we walked the entire stretch. We took the buses as we have 25 days only. Thank you again for the advice.
Thanks for the reply. Does this rule apply for via de la Plata? We are in Puebla de Sanabria. I only have one slot per day left to stamp until we reache SdC. 16 days left to go. Would you say I should pick up a new credential in Ourense? Thanks again for the advice.
Treat your dad and yourself to sleep at San Zoilo

I learnt that posh places like Patadores is less costly if you can manage (or happen to be) there during the weekend. Friday and Sat the price could be double and often fully booked by the local to have a weekend get away...
No right or wrong way to do Camino right ? It is your Camino and if the taxi “is calling”, then taxi it is. Thanks for your diary. It helps me plan mine.
If you are in the earlier stages of CF check out San Zoilo http://sanzoilo.com/ It is a monestary converted in luxury hotel. The “pilgrim menu” is Michellin star. It is at Corrion de los Condes.
Thank you all for the info. My hubby works with disable people and he definitely would love to stay there.
@jony jony -- when are you starting? We fly to Seville on Sept 20 and will catch a bus to Merida then starts from there. See you somewhere. BC.
With appreciation
Azelia
Hi, I thought I read somewhere that there is an Albergue ran by disabled people along VDLP. Does anybody have information on exactly where is this? Thank you much.
Completely agree! It makes the serene n beautiful place looks like a dumpster. I think it is very disrespectful to leave something that not wanted anymore for someone else to clean.
