Justin, we are too many miles apart to meet up beforehand but I wish you a buen camino and might see you there if you find yourself on the CF in May 2016.
Yes, Randy Newman wrote the song that 3 Dog Night also recorded. Try YouTube for Randy's version, just him and his piano.
Most of these artists are well past 60, or gone from this earth but that's what I like to listen to. I've got an iPod full - can't even weigh an ounce. Well worth the weight.
It sounds like you have nothing to worrry about. All my travels begin with minor jitters. This is yours. Then you are underway and things get better and all the small things you worried about are revealed as ... small things.
Buen Camino
Mum, you're probably right but don't underestimate the power of a dog's nose. It is thousands of times keener than ours.
This is excellent advice. Still, Baden-Powell told us to be prepared. I would think most peregrinos already carry whatever they need to stay safe: hiking poles, a...
I am surprised that dogs would misunderstand the nature of your beast based on sight alone. I have a deaf and blind dog who gets by amazingly well on her sense of smell alone. My theory is that, unbeknownst to you, dogs have been piddling on Jamilla's legs/wheels and leaving a scent that...
As much as I like to argue, I wasn't trying to start an argument. I don't think it was 100% fact-free but agree that licenses are taken in even those books that are presented as non-fiction. I have gladly added to Bryson's bank account as I find him very entertaining.
Ten more songs for my camino:
Who Knows Where the Time Goes - Sandy Denny
Wall of Death - Richard Thompson: probably belongs in my first ten
Sometimes - Jonathan Edwards
Wide River to Cross - Levon Helm
Safety Rope - Mick Flannery
High Horse - Graham Parker
No Blue Sky - The Thorns
Mama Told me...
Whoa, not to go too far off topic, but Bryson did claim to hike most of the AT. Granted it was for the purposes of writing about it but that's what the man does for a living. So he section hiked and took a taxi from TN to VA. This was hardly the book that established him as a best-selling...
You'd better believe I'll be listening to music! The first 10 songs I will listen to on my camino - haven't finalized the order yet. All remind me why I'm walking.
Blue Sky - Allman Brothers, the studio version -this one puts me in high gear
Four Strong Winds - Neil Young's version of the...
Thanks for sharing. We know it's not all wine and roses, but you seem to have grabbed a handful of thorns. Your daughter has added to her her trove of stories to tell back home. I'm sure it's good to be past it.
Better luck going forward.
According to their website, the service is still offered in Barcelona so you might want to check the Madrid airport website. If it's anything like BCN, get ready for sticker shock. 6 euros a bag for the first 2 hours, then 10 euros a day per piece. Whew!
