Problems with Iberia and American Airlines (standby seats and lost luggage)

I had almost exactly the same issue about three weeks ago - they didn't let me board the plane which was overbooked (but at least they booked a properly expensive hotel for me at A Coruna, with a fancy lunch and dinner included), I flew home the next day, and they lost my bag in Madrid :)...

Mid-April to mid-May Camino Francés, my experiences, insights, mistakes and lessons

Well, yes, but... If your shoes fall apart just before León, and you can't find the same shoes anywhere in the city, you might be forced to take a big gamble, and walk the remaining 300-ish kilometres in completely untested shoes, and just hope for the best... I got really lucky in that...

Mid-April to mid-May Camino Francés, my experiences, insights, mistakes and lessons

Sure, I agree. But I think being young pretty much guarantees the lack of it :) Getting wise is a life-long process ;) That's a very nice way to put it - I really like the sound of it, thank you! :) I touched this regard in my "part two" a bit, are you sure you do not want to try an albergue...

Mid-April to mid-May Camino Francés, my experiences, insights, mistakes and lessons

Part two - in the next few days, I thought about more things to add - this time they probably are a bit more subtle things, details maybe. But things that still kind of stand out to me, things you might not realize before. Here goes: - Let's start with an optimistic one - Some days are really...

Mid-April to mid-May Camino Francés, my experiences, insights, mistakes and lessons

Well, in my experience, the Camino can capture your soul and strongly draw you for another round... :) Good luck with your walk! :) Enjoy the Norte! The stunning coastal views are just amazing :) And remember the "After Sarria" part of my text when you arrive to Arzúa and see the pilgrim...

Mid-April to mid-May Camino Francés, my experiences, insights, mistakes and lessons

Hello, two weeks ago, I finished the Camino Francés, and while all the recent memories have not properly settled yet, I think enough time has passed to write a bit about my experience of the Camino :) First of all - a bit of context. This has been my second Camino - I walked the Norte in the...

Chance of a strike at Santiago airport (16 and 17-05 2024)

I made it home, my bag didn't so far, but should be here in a couple of days. These small annoyances aside, I had a great camino, when I manage to process it a little bit, I might share my expereince and ideas on the forums. Thanks againn for the tips! Michal

Chance of a strike at Santiago airport (16 and 17-05 2024)

And update from me - booked a flight from A Coruña. The flight was overbooked, so I had to stay another day, finally was able to fly today, only to find out on arrival that they lost my checked bag in Madrid... 😀 so, yeah, flying from A Coruña helped, but not that much. Michal

Chance of a strike at Santiago airport (16 and 17-05 2024)

I haven't booked my flights yet, I'm still about a week from Santiago. I'm just wondering how exactly the strike works - delayed flights? Canceled flights? Is it worth it booking on those days at all, or should I just kick it up a notch and fly home on the 15th? 😉

Chance of a strike at Santiago airport (16 and 17-05 2024)

Does anybody know how it might affect people flying home from Santiago on those days? I might be one of them 🙃

LIVE from the Camino They are recommending the Valcarlos route tomorrow, how foolish would it be to go Napoleon?

From my recent experience, if the weather doesn't allow any views, the really isn't anythning worthwhile on the Napoleon Route - just a lot of climbing, cold, and slight misery :)

Vaping/electronic cigarette liquid shop in León

Vaping/electronic cigarette liquid shop in León

Hello, I'd appreciate any advice on where to buy an electronic cigarette liquid in Leon - I restocked in Burgos, but probably will run out before Santiago. A quick Google search doesn't show any dedicated vaping ships in Leon, but I figured some of you might know a place one could buy some...

I do. I know :) It's just the pre-camino nerves. Thank you :) Hi Jarrad. Mi name is Michal and I guess we are quite alike :D Thanks, it will be fine, I guess you can not not have a bed and have bedbugs at the same time, right? :D I did, good information, thank you! Yes, "start on a tuesday...

A few quick questions before departing on the Francés

Yes, I booked the first few nights, so no park benches at least until after Pamplona for me :) I'm just curious what I'm heading into, I guess the pre-travel overthinking mode is firmly on :) Thanks, Michal

A few quick questions before departing on the Francés

Hello, I would be grateful for some advice from the ones of you who are walking/have recently walked from SJPdP :) 1 - How busy is the first part of the camino right now? I read some reports of a busy beginning of the season, but plenty of beds all around - is it still the case? 2 - re Covid -...
