    the standard is twin on the Camino, which makes sense. that said, when there are no singles, i book DUIs (dobles uso individual) all the time and have never felt guilty.

    there have been pilgrimages by coach since there have been coaches. i suppose what's become somewhat of a new event is coach tourism wanting to sightsee and 'exprience' the trail. Interesting comment that warrants a more reflection on my part. for the record, i have nothing against coach tourism.

    contact the accommodations directly: call, whatsapp or email, and cross your fingers. you may end up having to book off the Camino and shuttling there and back.

    like any big city, madrid will not have cheap accommodations. expect to pay at least +30 euros for an overnight, shared dorm. San Sebastian may be worse.

    credit cards... yes and no. some bars and supermarkets may refuse it for small amounts (eg. under 10 euros). always good to have at least 100 euos cash imo. there are atms in all the larger villages/towns. the municipal albergue in oviedo is fine, maybe your best option.
