    Wheelchair possibilities?

There is a guide by Johnnie Walker giving a walk around Santiago which covers all 5 main Caminos as they enter the city. It is available on Kindle. We walked one area and some parts are steep but you do not have to do it all, or in one day. It might be worth considering. The link is for the UK...

Looking for a guide - Ruta del Mar

Several of us have 'pioneered' this route around 2015/16 (Camino 2015 - June - July posts) and @Dave and his co-author have written an excellent guide. Yes it does date from 2019 but there are updates - many on this forum and added by @Dave . I see he has a link also to updates on his own...

    Camino fatigue?

We too appreciate the many posts here. We stepped back from walking the Camino after our final one in 2015 (Ribadeo to San Andrés - Ruta do Mar - and then the Inglés from Ferrol). We wanted to 'quit' on a high and then returned with the car (2016-18) to re-visit some of the places we had passed...

Ruta Natural del Cantabrico/Camino do Mar/Ribadeo to A Coruna

Thank you - we will enjoy reading the blog and re-visit the places we walked in 2015, although we did have to skip some sections

    Memory lane

My first partial Camino was on the Primitivo to see where @TerryB had walked and aiming to walk from Oviedo to Grandas de Salime. The weather had been bad and near Tineo the track was flooded out - knee deep. We climbed the bank and into the field - which meant hugging a tree, which felt warm...

Difficulty/ dangerousness/ albergues on the Primitivo?

The old advice for walking over Puerto de Palo by either Hospitales or Pola de Allande was 'in poor visibility walk the latter and if visibility bad then walk the road '. Any decisions need making where the way splits.

    Editing of posts turned off?

Having given this some thought:- If the error is minor it might be frustrating but not a serious problem. If the error is serious then is it possible to report ones own post while under the required number of posts? If so then a request to the moderators to edit or delete the post could be...

    Life-size Bronze Statues

Looking though our photos we found another view of the man with his suitcases in Oviedo - forgot we had it! Taken May 2011.

Where do ( did ) you walk locally in 2024?

Today we walked round the lake at Stover Park. There were several coot families with their chicks as we walked round the lake. The lake itself, which had been very overgrown, has been cleared and is being dredged as part of the restoration project. The silt will be dried and used in the woods to...

Where do ( did ) you walk locally in 2024?

So far today it has been wet so we have only walked around the house. Very local :) . However sitting with a cup of tea we saw 2 goldfinches on the fence. Not a great quality photo as it was taken on my old phone and through the window. The sun is coming out now - so off for a short walk.

    Little sculptures

Also from Vilar de Donas - taken in May 2016 - including one of the wall paintings.

Where do ( did ) you walk locally in 2024?

Another Devon view. The paths across the fields are finally drying out and the trees are coming into leaf. We look forward to walking up the hill again and along the hilltop (at the left).

Where do ( did ) you walk locally in 2024?

A walk along a track by the River Dart today with early bluebells and a few late primroses.

Where do ( did ) you walk locally in 2024?

Earlier in the year we posted a photo of the sea wall at Teignmouth, Devon. (post #122) Visiting again today we walked around town and then towards the sea wall. This is the view looking back towards the pier with the Ness headland behind it and the coast at Torbay in the background. The River...

    Little sculptures

Two more from the Primitivo (taken in 2012). 1) Santa Maria - Leboreiro and 2) Melide - also Santa Maria

    Little sculptures

Two interesting 'windows' in the old church of San Salvador de Valdediós (C Primitivo), near Oviedo. They are both carved from a single piece of stone and are on either side of the doorway. The doorway is from the monastery - also at Valdediós

    public transport on Camino Primitivo

When we walked we found that the buses do not run between Grandas de Salime (Asturias) and Fonsagrada (Galicia), although there are taxis at a price. It might be worth checking whether this is still how they work. Also the ALSA only ran once a day from Oviedo through to Grandas so checking...

    Editing of posts turned off?

I have just tried over on the 'Little sculptures' thread. Photo and text posted ok and text then edited with no problem. Using Ubuntu (Linux) with Chromium (=Chrome) browser on a laptop. For the photo - for some time I have had to click on 'insert image' then the 'drop here' rectangle to choose...

    Little sculptures

The doorway of the church in LLanes (C de Norte) has lovely carving on the archway, including several animals.

Where to buy an electric kettle

Depending on how much water you need to boil at a time the electric coil as an alternative to a kettle might be better. We carried an electric coil heater, lighter and easier to pack than a kettle. Again a hardware store should have one or try Amazon and check it has 2 pin plug etc. On one...
