Don’t make this mistake female alone on Camino

Which would explain why he stopped chatting... I agree with @trecile - unless he said or did anything threatening to you, everything (at least the way I see it) could be chalked up to your emotional state: it went up then it went down, crashed and got you into paranoia re: sitting somewhere...

Money taken from my Cash Passport! ☹️

Re Charles Schwabb - no minimum balance required; it requires to open an investment account as well but there are no requirements to do anything with that either. So you open 2 accounts, leave the investment account with a $0.00 balance and foggeddabaudid and transfer X number of $$$ ti the...

Problems with Iberia and American Airlines (standby seats and lost luggage)

Yes I see. By asking I was not so much inquiring of "how" but rather "if", basically assuring that your travel indeed encompasses 14 days of just sea travel. Wonderful idea and truly am glad that you can do this. Sadly I am still not in the position of being able to afford that much time on top...

    Help getting lodging past Sarria

@isawtman I think we slightly talking apples and oranges here although there is some common ground. Beauty,as they say, is in the eyes of beholder so whats interesting to you may not be to me and vice versa. in 2013 we spent 2 weeks on Oahu and trust you me it was not laying on the beach...

Problems with Iberia and American Airlines (standby seats and lost luggage)

And? Did that insistent knowledge got them their luggage back in time to start the Camino "as intended" (i.e. today or tomorrow)? Most of us are not blessed with many extra days to wait for the lost luggage. Rather a fast run to nearest Decathlon and hope for the best especially footwear. After...

    Help getting lodging past Sarria

The albergues are booked because all Pilgrims are going to the concert? Including MdG 500+ bed one as well?

Problems with Iberia and American Airlines (standby seats and lost luggage)

@ShoshTrvls - mainly price difference and (convenient) flight availability. Of course if I need to fly domestically I stay at PHL and I can nicely get there from home on either Warminster line proper or ask someone to drop me off at Glenside. But, for comparison, here are my 2 overseas trips...

Problems with Iberia and American Airlines (standby seats and lost luggage)

I very much favor Aerobus when i come to El Pratt. Runs every 20 mins from T1 or T2 and will take you to Placa Espanya in 10 mins. short walk to L3 metro about 30 mins total Or You may jump on R2N from T2 (every 30 mins on the :08 &:38) fir a 20 mins ride Good luck and Buen Camino

Problems with Iberia and American Airlines (standby seats and lost luggage)

Well that you can. Maybe get some snacks ahead of time. Also may want to look into various airlines' lounges; perhaps one or some of them may be open through the night. Usually at @60.00 entry fee (and free food booze and soft drinks) it's a bargain over hotel

Problems with Iberia and American Airlines (standby seats and lost luggage)

Nope I mean you can hang out there but no flights are going out and most eateries close by 10pm or so

Problems with Iberia and American Airlines (standby seats and lost luggage)

Although it got considerably worse compared with pre-COVID I also favor UA over many other airlines. EWR is my fave Airport to go overseas since PHL(my home base) SUCKS BIG TIME and I totally abhor going to JFK!

    Help getting lodging past Sarria

Ok...matter of personal opinion. For you obviously 4 days or less is "power through" and for me - that's "running". I walked past Sarria and stopped at Barbadello so we'll say that that's my starting way point for the mentioned 100km. I took nice relaxing 7 days to get to SdC and "powered...

LIVE from the Camino Back on the Camino: Sarria > Finisterre > Muxia

Buen Camino I loved Casa Cruceiro- got hooked with some wonderful folks and we stayed together as a Camino Family all the way to SdC and while in it. Funny thing is that while totally unplanned we all would wind up staying in the same albergue every stage we took :)

Sorry if this is a dumb question - Single vs. double rooms

I had only 2 private rooms for 1 person they were at Hostal Carales in Burgos and at Casa Maruja in Castromaior. Couple of others were clearly big enough for 2 I'm not sure I can say that I paid double for them... its almost like here in US the price was "per room"

Problems with Iberia and American Airlines (standby seats and lost luggage)

Totally agree. I check my bag because I check my poles. They are MY poles! They've been with me through many hikes including Machu Picchu. I like their grips and can adjust them within seconds. I don't need to buy a pair and then hope that at the very least they will not chafe my palms. And yes...
