Forecast arrival of pilgrims in Santiago

For many of us who live in Europe, the weather is certainly a factor in terms of when to do a camino. True, two weeks of vacation here and there does help but seriously...would most of us leave to walk a camino under 40C or under extremely adverse weather conditions?

    From Cadiz to Santiago

I would like to be able to manage that...leaving CADIZ with not too much heat and arriving north of MERIDA with not so cold. Did someone say that they don't plan a camino with weather in mind? ;)

    3,171 Compostelas issued today

Thanks for your input, Mark. I registered using the website and have a bar code. I just have to go to the pilgrim Office and show my credential and stamps? How does one obtain the other certificate that one has walked so many kilometers? Is that also found at the Pilgrim Office or elsewhere?

    Hotels along the way -

Bag transfer is a breeze. You find special envelopes in hostels, pensions, albergues, hotels and you have your backpack transported to your next destination provided you know exactly where you are going. You call up a number in English if necessary and indicate the name of the place where you...

CPAP users: how do you bring your machine with you?

I have wrapped the electrical plug in bubble wrap in order that it not be damaged during transport. I use Bluetooth to keep a record of the episodes of sleep apnea.

What pushed or invited or drew you to set off for 'The Camino'?

Absolutely and that is what I am doing presently. Btw, met a nice chap from Scotland just yesterday, 81 years old. I am impressed.

What pushed or invited or drew you to set off for 'The Camino'?

I have wanted to walk the Camino since I was 15 because it sounded fun. Times have changed. I am looking to sound myself out professionally and personally. I have been forced to retire due to having been fired. I am angry at having been asked to leave given my years of service and the...

    Poles or No Poles?

Tonight I am in Burgos and use them every day. Just managing on rocky surfaces but also when you need to jump over long stretches of water, mud. I would not do without. If worried about transport, get the collapsing hiking poles.

    A couple of Aragonés questions

Last April, I was required to leave my backpack at the reception at the New Monastery. Watch out walking down to Santa Cecilia as it’s slippery rocks. Do not miss the old monastery and if you have a chance, go up to the Monastery of Leyre.

Accommodation - to book or not to book

This answer reminds me of what is referred to in France as « une réponse de Normands » (an answer from people out of Normandy who will answer negatively and then answer positively or vice-versa.

Accommodation - to book or not to book

I do have a question concerning accommodations on the MESETA, from BURGOS to LEON. Does the Forum recommend booking in advance and if so how much in advance? I plan on arriving in BURGOS on Thursday and leaving this coming Saturday.
