Hi Jodean, as per your comment, I am afraid of missing out walking out of Porto. I will see how to figure this out.
Thank you Albertinho, I will take a look to this camping; though, I just found Casarão Paraiso in Perafita which makes for 16.5 kms from Porto and will leave another 16.2 kms to...
Ola Albertinho, thank you for your advice.
I wanted to start walking from Porto because I understand it very pretty. Now, if walking from Matosinhos will be the same experience; then, your idea of staying in Praia de Angeiras or Praia de Labruge would brake the segment in two doable parts...
Hi Albertinho, I am doing the same segment from Matosinhos to Vila de Conde on the Costal route and I find it a bit long for me. I figured out these options:
1. To take the metro from Matosinhos to VC Fashion Outlet/Modivas and walk west 3.1 kms to pick up the Costal Camino on Vila Chã and...
Thank you for your info. I like the idea of having one company manage my transfers for the whole Camino. It seems that Top Santiago is the one. Thanks again.
Hi Konnie, thank you for your info.
I am doing the Portuguese Costal way in late August.
Do you or anybody else know how to manage backpack transfers:
1. which are the most reliable company for the Portugues litoral/costal way?
2. which companies attend the Variante Espiritual? I understand...
Thank you for warning us, solo women. Would it be possible to let us know exactly the place? I am looking at the map and it seems that Albergaria-a-Velha es a big zone. I am assuming this is on the Portuguese Caminho Central? additional details will help avoid this awful situation. Sorry for...
HI Deb, it is refreshing to read about your efforts to make your next Camino. I like your attitude of doing what you can, this is how I take it too.
I am planning to do the Portuguese Camino next year. Would you mind sharing the list of lodging that your friend gave you? I want to start...
Same here, after that movie, I can't eat pulpos, and it was big deal in Melide going into that famous restaurant with my group and not being able to eat anything.
Been there! when I came back from the Camino a month ago, I put back and more of the pounds that I had lost while walking. I have not stopped exercising, but only until now I have managed going back to my normal diet (1200 calories/day) that keeps me in my target weight. Not easy at all, but I...
It is funny that losing your glasses may be so common. It makes me feel better as I lost my plan-A- glasses while walking on the Camino. I took them off to rest their weight, placed them on the backpack strap hook and lo and behold, when I wanted to put them back, they were gone. Went back on...
If you are interested in the numbers, Editorial Buen Camino has posted this video (in Spanish) with interesting data from 2022. It analyzes five trends upon the total number of compostelas delivered since 2010. 1. % and total growth of pilgrims by Camino ( the % of the C. Frances is decreasing...
I am starting my Camino in Astorga at the end of April, and it has not been easy to make reservations. I am mixing albergues and private rooms as the last resource. I am also trying to stay in off-stage towns, and contacting directly the hospitalero which may take a day or two for them to return...
I use GaiaGPS app to record my trainings at home. I plan to use it the Camino too. Apparently when you are in Spain you may download the Spain IGN Topo layer that contains the Camino. Not sure how this works yet... Actually, I learn this in this forum in a thread about maps.
