    Try something new?

Both! On my last trip across the meseta I stayed at the same lodgings in Hontanas and Boadilla as the first time and they were still excellent. After that it was new towns and different lodgings.

Last minute decisons - fleece or puffer?

I am bringing my layers consisting of 1) ultralight rain jacket, 2) ultralight down puffy, and 3) ultralight fleece. This way I can mix and match depending on the conditions. The fleece is the Alpha Direct 60 weight from Senchi Designs.

    Solo Female Traveller?

All of my trips have been as a solo female traveler, but I have met some very nice ladies of all ages to walk with on various sections. The more you travel, the more comfortable you will be. My husband is very supportive of my Camino walking trips.

    Rough In Planning Support

I have roughly 50% of my Camino planned at this point, the rest will be handled en route. Oh, and my round trip tickets cost less than $900 US (from Texas) this year!

Should I bring my own Mercado bag?

A lightweight reusable bag can have many purposes, including, but not limited to, a bag to hold shower stuff, grocery bag, laundry bag, etc. I vote Yes on bringing an extra bag as long as it doesn’t weigh more than an ounce or two.

Lightweight Blankets for Walking the Camino

There is also the Thermarest Juno Blanket. It is lightweight and can withstand being hot washed in a Spanish lavanderia for bed bugs 😩 I was pleasantly surprised at how my gear took to all of the unpleasant hot washing last year!

Those who have walked at least one Camino - What are your favorite insoles and why?

I have only used SuperFeet insoles, but not on the Camino as I hike in sandals.

    Ultra lightweight backpack--worth it?

This year I am trying out the 5.11 Cloudstryke 18L pack. The vest style straps are adjustable and I am hoping this is a comfortable way to carry my Camino gear. It’s heavier than the pack from Gossamer Gear, but the weight distribution is different as I will carry water in the front pockets.

    Ultra lightweight backpack--worth it?

FWIW, on my last walk I used the Gossamer Gear Minimalist 19L backpack. My baseweight was 10lbs, not including water. It was plenty enough for my needs and what I was carrying at that time.
