Bathroom stops on the camino for female Peregrinas

I’ve heard of these devices, and I didn’t use them on the trail, I used the natural way. It was when I needed to do the other job that I struggled. No bathrooms, no toilet paper and luckily I was near a field.

    Ribadeo Bridge

Hello there, I have a fear of bridges and that one did scare me. I did it by putting one foot in front of the other, holding onto the sides and talking to myself. View video here.

Experience with waterproofing spray for cloth walking shoes?

I think it's a great idea ! I tried, vaseline, - don't laugh. I needed to figure out something when I was there. My favorite pair of shoes were drying and was stuck wearing by 'not so favorite', so I thought putting Vaseline on my good pair, would make them more water resistant, ... and it...

Disappointing Experience at Hospedería San Martín Pinario

I stayed there on October 21st and 22nd this year when I arrived there. I heard it had rained a lot and that it was flooded but there were absolutely no signs of that when I went to the cafeteria nor in my bedroom which was located on the first floor.

Difficulty comparison: Camino del Norte vs. Camino Frances from St. Jean Pied de Port

Question about phones and SIM cards in Spain

I had purchased a sim from Amazon for most European countries, Travsim- then decided to get one in Bilbao for Spain. The only problem was if I shut my phone, it was locked and I needed the PIN number to unlock it. Not good if you don’t know that ahead of time. I ended up carrying pin with me...

Difficulty comparison: Camino del Norte vs. Camino Frances from St. Jean Pied de Port

It may be challenging but if you practice long walks in different terrains, you’ll be fine, if you’re in good shape,

Difficulty comparison: Camino del Norte vs. Camino Frances from St. Jean Pied de Port

I agree, views were spectacular! It was my first and found it challenging especially when it rained. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Difficulty comparison: Camino del Norte vs. Camino Frances from St. Jean Pied de Port

I haven’t done the French Way but I can tell you there’s a variety of terrain on the Del Norte, from Bilbao roads, country roads, farmer’s narrow paths, steep and curvy roads, up hills, narrow paths, woody paths near rivers, and if it rains it can get quite treacherous, beautiful paths along...

Menu del dia - options to customize?

I had to laugh when you were describing the mixed salad. I remember the very first time I saw those slimy, white asparagus, and the tuna on the mixed salad. I wondered what it was. However, overtime I grew to enjoy it and missed it especially when there weren’t a lot of restaurants around in...

I used the wise pilgrim app when I walked the Del Norte in September 2023. I found it very useful, especially the map function.

Are you a hiker or a walker?

When I was getting ready for Del Norte, I walked and hiked. I did have to find some hiking trails around where I lived and most the time they were about 20 minutes from where I was. I was also able to hike the same trail to get into the 20 km a day rhythm. Although my days on the Del Norte were...
