    The Pilgrim’s Guide to Etiquette

God forbid you say "Washington." Folks assume D.C. (Which irks me to no end.) Even when I lived in Everett and Mountlake Terrance I told folks when traveling I was from Seattle. (Which I do live IN Seattle now.) It's funny to run into folks. "Where do you live?" "Seattle." "Me too! Where?"...

Casa Rural Parada de Francos. Getting some bad vibes from this place

It's interesting because some people loved it there. It looks like all the severe reviews are recent. It looks like a cute place. Pity.

Corkscrew do I take one with me?

It is if you can't get it out of the bottle.

How to get the soap residue out of socks

As a knitter. This is the recommended way of drying wool garments. Water pressed out in a clean towel and then lain flat to dry. It is generally a no-go. But if your instructions say it's ok, it's ok. It's possible the wool used in your sweater is "super wash" wool in which the wool/yarn fibers...

Corkscrew do I take one with me?

And stemless are not ideal for white wines. Hand heat, bad for the white wines. :D I am fine with them for reds. It's only 13:00 here right now and I am craving a wine.

Corkscrew do I take one with me?

    A hem! Wine IS important.

Corkscrew do I take one with me?

Oh! I did not know this was ok! https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/items/corkscrews-no-blade Could I assume other security agencies would allow? I am flying a small Dutch airline from Paris to Biarritz/Bayonne. I suppose I wouldn't cry if it were confiscated. But it's...

A sensitive question - Availability of laxatives

I can relate. I have a problematic digestive system as well. Different problems. But for instance the only way my acid reflux can stay in check is to have some vinegar in water every evening. So I'll be toting a bottle of that everywhere. Yay me. I guess the good news is vinegar is widely...

    New lightweight backpack from REI

I have an REI pack that has easy water bottle access too. Thank you REI pack designers! (My Gregory requires a buddy, or taking my pack off.)

A sensitive question - Availability of laxatives

Prunes make a lovely portable sweet snack or dessert. Yum!

    Be careful with phones.

Yes, of course it is possible to cut it. And ingenious thieves may have scissors and this. But the fortified straps may be somewhat of a deterrent. (Also the strap has two cables in it, so it's not a quick one snip kind of thing.)

    Be careful with phones.

Eek! I thought that a cross body bag was pretty safe. There are travel bag brands that have "slash resistant/proof" straps so they can't be cut off easily. Some have steel cables sewn into the straps which adds weight. :( Travelon brand comes to mind. I have a few of their bags. In fact, I used...

    Be careful with phones.

I'd rather be charging my battery bank. If I lose that, no biggie.

Walking with a messenger bag rather than a backpack

I was thinking of this video too. He uses Sierra Design. Mountainsmith has a couple too. The largest is 13L. I used to backpack with a gal who used a lumbar pack. She used a hammock and her things fit in a Mountainsmith.

    Another Boring Kit Thread

Assuming PJ bottoms? I leave right after you on the 11th, but we will likely not meet. I think though you were the Scot on Reddit I have to thank for reminding me of San Fermin. As a result I have made plans appropriately and booked a hotel weeks ago for when I get to Pamplona on the 14th...

Bitchin! (And for those that don't know, it isn't an insult, or complaining, but an exclamation of positivity.)

Lost & Found Lost reading glasses in Atapuerca

One more thing. (And I am not good about this, but repeat to myself constantly) Glasses: "On your face, or in the case!" (credit to my friend's optometrist for coining that one.)

Lost & Found Lost reading glasses in Atapuerca

Well the lucky thing about us who are far sighted is reading glasses are easy to come by at stores, unlike the near sighted folks prescription glasses. Although I have lost 2 very expensive prescription progressive glasses. *cry* But at least I can get by with drugstore reading glasses. Good luck!

My knee has given out. Need a place to recover for a week.

Ohh! This a great tip. I would never have thought to stay somewhere nice of I were to get an injury
