I am impressed! I will be walking the Francais in a few weeks, and I am trying to keep pack weight down. Clearly, an experienced walker like yourself has no need for a guidebook. Would a guidebook be essential for a first timer?
That is. Lot of votes for dropping the Kindle. I am planning on bringing my IPad mini. It serves as communication device, journal, guidebook, something to read to help me drift off to sleep, music, and entertainment while on planes and trains getting to and from the Camino. Am I wrong?
I too live in the Pacific Northwest(Portland), and am planning a leisurely pilgrimage starting in September. My dates are flexible -watching for airfare prices to drop. I'd be interesting in networking.
