Blessings to you, Margaret. You were an inspiration to me when I was planning my camino for Sept 2012. I thought of you and your spirit, tenacity and sense of peace while walking. The forum is blessed to have you as a member.
Hi,
Just finished the Camino Frances the end of Oct. In the 4 weeks I was a solo traveler I experienced almost every human emotion you can imagine, except fear. I always felt safe and did not have any unpleasant experiences. I did have a moment questioning my sanity when I left...
Guess I was lucky. Walked the Camino Frances mid Sept through Oct and managed to avoid the bedbugs. I did spray my pack, sleeping bag and silk liner with permethrin before leaving. I also did a visual exam of my sleeping space before settling in. In my travels I only heard...
I was in the cathedral on Oct 30th at the pilgrim's mass and there was a group in the inner circle... just in front of the altar during the mass. One woman, (tall thin blond woman,) was on rollerblades and she gave a long impassioned speech to the audience. She was very emotional...
I didn't bring my kindle which I didn't regret til about the last 10 days when I seemed to have more time on my hands. I was craving for something in English about that time. So I read the little pamphlet of the Gospels of St John's given to me by people running the Dutch albergue...
I leave tomorrow for Madrid then head to Pamplona and SJPP. So excited ( and nervous.) I sincerely could not have gotten this far without this forum. Thank you so much; I hope to pay it forward when I get back.
Hi. I just read elsewhere in the forum that it is harvest festival time and that things are booked up for miles around Pamplona. I am leaving from SJPP on the 19th, Orrison on the 20th so I think I'm walking right into it. Nice but... Any suggestions where to try to make...
FYI,
I must have the newer Altus poncho as it is only about 4mos old. Just took a walk a 3 hour walk in a torrential rain storm.. (3 inches in a 24 hr period.) I and my pack were completely dry!
I am starting out of SJPP on Sept 20th. Less than 1 month! And like Bobbie, I have learned so much from this forum.(What I hold most dear is Margaret's advice re: going slowly.) I hope that I can return the kindness and the generosity to the forum when I return.
My emotions have gone...
Jim and Pat,
My husband Neil and I will be in SJPP Sept 19 staying in Orrisson the 20th... maybe we'll see you on the Camino... we live not far from you in the Seacoast of NH
Debbie
OK.. another question; Knowing I need 2 stamps/ day at least for the last 100kms, won't I need to have more than 1 credencial? I'm starting from SJPP... and that is where I am planning to get my credencial. Will they give me more than 1 passport to carry. I assume the...
Jeff,
I agree with Lydia. As a nurse who has worked with many diabetics, I have seen that those who are most successful are those that are vigilant re: their diet and weight control. If you are overweight I encourage you to lose weight. Work closely with a dietian and follow her advice. (...
Hi, Poppz
Welcome!
I'm planning my camino Sept -October..leaving SJPP on the 20th and hope to take the month of October to reach SdC. I have found this forum invaluable....not just for logistics but for support and encouragement.
A couple of things I trying to keep foremost in my mind...
Gunnar,
Just finished "Radio Buen Camino" . I had tears in my eyes as you approached Santiago. I have yet to walk my camino (sept 2012) and I am trying not to have expectations ; But your film gives me hope of a Buen Camino. Thank you
Debiie in NH
I saw the movie on Netflixs when it came out . I had heard about in in the late part of 2011 and immediately put it on my list. But even before I saw the movie I had been moving toward "something," doing alot of spiritual reading , trying to get closer to nature, God..I just wasn't...
